Neurontin and swelling

I just started Neurontin on a very low dose (200 mg 3x per day) and I have seen great results. The only down side is that the muscular pain is worse. But the nerve pain is down to a 1 or 2 out of ten!

A weird side effect is that the "swelling" that I have been experiencing since the pain started is going away. It was everywhere, from my face to my waist. I don't know if I should worry or not since Neurontin is supposed to possibly cause swelling, not relieve it.

Anyone else have a sort of diuretic effect with Neurontin?

My husband takes Neurontin for pain neuropothy ... he takes 2 -100x mg 4 times a day. he was on 300 4x a day and had sever personality issues with him he is doing well on 200x 4x a day. has some swelling in his feet. but you have to weigh the pros and cons of everything

It was easier to do it 4x a day than 3x a day with all the other meds he takes talk to your doctor about it maybe you can change up the amount and time a day.

there are other medications that are in the same class of neurontin, I have tried them as well but did not like the way they made me feel might be better for you ask your doctor, ask for samples, cymbalta and lyrica .... everybody is different.
goood luck

I just was informed by my oncologist las Friday that I have a large tumor in my leg near the femoral artery that does not look good. Two years ago I had a thoracotomy to remove a tangerine size NF from my chest and two large NFs from the same leg. To help with the leg pain they recommended Lyrica (75 mg 2x a day). I know that Neurontin made me swell up but I've also heard that Lyrica can do the same thing in larger doses; so I am hoping this won't do the same thing.

To help avoid this I have switched to a low calorie diet with NutriSystem for men. I just ordered it. It isn't all that expensive. A month of meals is about $ 300 if you order the continuous meal supply and it provides about 5 meals a day for men. It helps your gylcemic index and you supplement it with shakes and fresh vegetables you buy locally.

I've never tried this before so I am hoping to loose a few pounds before the medicine takes its effect. I may be barking up the wrong tree here here but my doctor told me he lost 20 pounds on NutriSystem. So it might help.....

But eventually I'll have to have surgery to get the tumor out especially given my history of malignant degeneration in the peripheral nerve sheath tumors and may have to go to MD Anderson to see Dr John Slopis who is the #1 doctor in the USA on NF-1 for a consult. He is a great doctor and is widely known for his expertise. He saw me two years ago when I had all those malignant NFs and he literally saved my life!

I

I've tried both Neurontin and lyrica. I'm currently taking 1200mg daily of neurontin but haven't had any major symptoms. @msdumpty- I've been on this med for a while but also have had these unexplained leg cramps. I've never thought it could be the neurontin causing it.
