I was told at the hospital today that the tumor I have on the optic nerve is beginning to press, they will not operate it because they think there is too much risk in it, but instead refer me to radiation. I lost my vision in the other eye 13 years ago due to a tumor and is therefore concerned for this tumor and my eye.
My tumor on the auditory nerve has also begun to grow again, they do not know enough about radiation of NF tumors in the hospital I go through, so today they have referred me to the best there is in Denmark. They explained to me today that it probably will be an election on priotering whether I will keep my last sight or my hearing in the better ear
because they can not give me radiation on both tumors simultaneously.
I will of course preferably keep my vision, but are very afraid of radiation of the tumor on my optic nerve, because I have lost vision in the other eye and they will probably operate the tumor away by the auditory nerve and thus disappear the hearing also, on my other ear, I am almost deaf.
I would like to know if there are others who have received radiation at / near their optic nerve? and what was the outcome of it?
