im planing on getting a tattoo has any one had one who is a nf1 suffer and had any problems
You have nothing to fear. I have a severe case of NF1. The bumps are all over my body. I have 3 pieces of artwork on my arms and legs and all have healed properly. The last artist did ask what the bumps were and I educated him. He just wanted to make sure the tattoo would heal properly not that he was scared to touch me. Hope that helps. Good Luck and enjoy your NEW TAT =)
thanks that helps she asked me but i said should be ok think she was worried that more would grow or it would not heal but im hauing it in my wrist where its not to bad would like it on my spine at bottom but its really bab there iv only just found this site its goog to talk to other people as i dont no any one with it apart from my 2 kids that only have cafe marks at moment i hope it stays that way i would hate it if it was like me sharon

I have a few tatoos as well. I just started getting them about two years ago. I have not had any problems.
my husband had gotten many tattoos done and didn't have any issues.
I have a few and no problems. I want more,
I've a few Tatoos, the only issue I've had is that fibromas that were once small have grown under and upon my Tat.
I have 7 my must recent one is of a spider. The spiders back is a bump. Makes it look 3-D... I don't think it hurt anymore then any of my tattoos.
I have two over a couple of the "birthmarks." They heald just fine. I dont think it's a good idea to get any on the nodules though. Good luck, it'll be fine.
thanks for all your help i got one done on my wrist butterfly and 4 stars no problems at all looks really nice now i want more lol
i got 5 and goin to get another one today anit had and problems yet ill let u know if this new one i get does anything to me
I waited years to get one and now I have two. I wish I didn't wait. Life is too short to be worried about stuff.
I'm an award winning tattoo artist... well, RETIRED tattoo artist. I wish I had never gotten ANY. Most of my tatts are either crap I got from sh!t tattooists or half done oieces I was working on with people at the shop on slow days. A customer would come in and we would stop and "finish later". I used up all the really good spots on BS.
The real reason I wish I had never been tattoo'd is because its soo popular now that to be diffeent you have to be tattoo free. I've done thousands of tattoos. Everyone from bikers and ex-cons to soccer moms and doctors. Everyone inbetween. Luckily, nothing on my body is flash. All custom work. Nothing makes me more pissed off and depressed than somone who wants work off a flash sheet. Last place I worked at, thankfully we had a NO FLASH rule. You got unique custom work by a tallented ARTIST or you go down the street and take your chances. Tattooig is by far the biggest dissapointment in my life.
Since I was a child I wanted to tattoo and I was lucky enough to get an apprenticeship and learn from one of the best tattoo artists in the world. After 6 years: I'm all set. I wanted to be creative and make beautifull art on collectors who wanted great work from a passionate, dedicated artist. Unfortunately, most people want SH!T. Somthing they saw on TV or that a million other people have already. They want to bust balls over price, like they think the artist gets all that money and have no idea the overhead on just workin out of someone else's shop. The people I worked for/with rode me like a mule and when my back finally went out and my fingers hurt too much to holda machineanymore... I'm dead to them now. They refused to listen to me about my NF and told me to "walk it off".
In the end however, its just not what it was a decade ago. Its tragically hip and along with anything that gains such popularity, the soul is dying. There are still alot of GREAT artists out there but I'm hangin up the machines for good. Tattooing was supposed to be a way to set yourself apart. To tell a story on skin. To mark you as a warrior or strong person. Now any idiot with a few hundred bux can get a stupid tribal arm band and embarass himself and the tradition forged by centuries of proud cultures from around the world. I watched my dream carreer get boxed up and presented like a happy meal on prime time TV. Right next to comercials for feminine hygene products, life insurence and bob's discount car lot.
I dont care if I sound dramatic. I'm glad people like tattoos. It kept me fed for years. I just can't do it with a clear consience anymore. I'm moving on to cooking. One of my other loves in life.
P.S.)
THINK BEFORE YOU INK !!!
GOOD WORK ISN'T CHEAP AND CHEAP WORK ISNT GOOD !!!
TIP YOUR ARTIST OR PIERCER !!!
Hey, I understand what you are saying....I'm sorry you can't do tat work anymore due to the pain...but have you ever thought of drawing tattoos for people to get other people to do? I myself have I think about 7 or 9 tats and I want more...but my problem is I don't want something that looks like someone's elses. I am waiting to get my next one, when I find someone who can do what I want...even though I know it has been done before...but I want mine different.
Anyway, just thought maybe you could still do what you liked/loved to do...even if it is just a drawing for someone else to do.
