Has anyone had any positive response to the combined therapy of cell cept and prednisone?
I have had excellent results. I was in acute renal failure and scheduled to start dialysis. I received a low dose of chemo intravenously and several bags of prednisone intravenously. I left the hospital the day I was scheduled start dialysis with 1,000 mg of cellcept and 60 mg of prednisone. I am on 10 mg pred and 250 mg cellcept and am in full remission. No dialysis, no swelling. Kidneys are working 100% normal. I had a kidney biopsy in June 07 and they found the FSGS. They thought I had another kidney disease but biopsy showed only FSGS. My kidneys were stripping the red bloods cells out at an incredible rate, protein in urine very high, creatine high. All come down after treatment started and I have been improving every day since. I was so since in June, I had to have blood transfusion. Hope this helps.
I started at 17 also...they put me on prednisone, blood pressure medicine and cholesterol meds oh and lasix. the pred didnt work so we lowered that and brought in Cellcept. So now I have that and 5mg prednisone every other day. The spill went down after the prednisone was lowered! Now I am at 7 after 2 years but I am also at Stage 3 now instead of 2.
So the protein is going down but the function sint going up. Thanks to fsgs.
I do not understand the stages of FSGS. My neph has never mentioned anyting about stages. I was in acute renal failure the first time he saw me. Can someone explain.
I was just bumped up to 2000 mg of Cellcept for the next 2 months to see what happens. I did take the cellcept and prednisone at the same time for about 3 months, it really did not do anything special for me. I haven't had any bad side effects, yet, with cellcept. Just a VERY low immune system. I've had the WORST flu of my life, mono, pneumonia, strep throat, and the occassional cold. But i also am a teacher so I am around EVERYTHING.....
