Proteins went up and creatine did too.....

My proteins went from 2 to 2.6 but my creatine went from 2.8 to 3. I am confused by this as I would think my proteins would go down as my creatine went up??? my Neph was happy that my creatine went up but says that if I do not reach remission by Oct, which is a little over a year from my diagnosis and treatment that he might want to do another biopsy and that I might have FSGS. I am very depressed about this.

right now I take:
5mg pred 1xday
20mg Enalapril 1xday
160mg Diovan 2xday
20mg Simvastatin 1xday
200mg Imuran (for my ulcerative colitis) 1xday

+ multi vits, fosomax, calicum/vit D & fursomide

I don't understand why your doctor would be happy about your creatinine being up. Mine was up to 3.3 with no protein spillage and function at 15%. My doctor went ballistic. He determined that the increase was due to dehydration because I had been sick. We re-did the blood tests today and the creatinine is now at 2.5 with the function at 21%. I hydrated before the test and ate a good breakfast. I have FSGS, so there might be a difference between what I have and what you have.

There is a miscommunication somewhere. Are you talking about creatinine in your blood or in your urine? When people talk about creatinine levels they mean serum creatinine. You want those levels to be generally around 0.8 to 1.4 mg/dL. If it's 3, that's bad. And you don't want it to go up because the more that's in your blood, the worse your kidneys are performing. Your nephrologist wouldn't be happy about that.

I've never really heard any one talk about 24 hour creatinine levels with any meaning.

I am sorry I think I used the wrong word, I meant proteins in my blood are at 3, so less proteins should be going into my urine and the proteins in my blood should be around 4.....I hope I am not utterly confused.
