Prograf and diareah

0 Recommendations

My son has NS, he is 8. He seems to get diareah often. If he gets a virus, like a cough. He gets diareah too. Not fevers, but right to his tummy and the diareah.
It lasts for 2-3 days. This happens about twice a month. Does anyone else have this side effect from Prograf or maybe it's completely unrelated. It just seems odd to me that a child gets this so often.
I've tried pediatric amodium and pink little kid pepto... nothing works, just time!

Cyclosporine Pain Diarrhea

My daughter is 6 and has NS, and is also on Prograf. I do believe it is a side effect, but I think it can be a combination of things. My daughter had terrible, constant diarrhea and a sore bottom for weeks at a time. It was aweful. She was having relapse after relapse at the time, so it could have been her excess fluid causing the diarrhea as well, but it really started when we switched from cyclosporine to prograf. However, now that she is in remission, on less pred, and at the same level of prograf, she no longer has diarrhea. So hard to say what was causing it. I think she actually may have an intolerance to cows milk, so we switched her to soy milk, and right around the time we did, she was finally able to stay in remission, and the diarrhea stopped. So again, hard to say what was truly causing it. Hope this helps!!

I might try the soy milk ...worth a try....thank you!!!

Definitely a side effect of the drug. I am an adult with F.S,G.S I was on Cyclosporine for a year which gave me severe diarrhea and made me sick to my stomach, The Neph switched me from that to Prograf and now I feel better but still have bouts of diarrhea

thanks! funny the neph doesn't say it's a side effect... they just keep telling me he must be getting virus's...

My son was on Prograf and did well. He would often get stomach pain. we placed him on a Probiotic by the company Ganeden, called "Digestive Advantage" - you can Google it to see all the lines they carry & find it at walmart, CVS and WAlgreeens you can also call them 1-800-456-0276.
I was doing the IBS one and would give 2 pills in the am. they work for 24 hours. You should try it. They guarantee their product. It worked GREAT!!

IBS, Gas Defense are ones we use. I wouldn't be with out!!

You can write it off on your taxes under medical expenses.

THANK YOU!!! I'm going to look for it today!
