Prednisolone

0 Recommendations

We found out June 2, 2008 that my daughter has MCNS and she has been on prednisolone for the past four months and its not keeping her into remission. Her feet fall asleep alot and she is always hot. Never wants to have clothes on or blankets on while she sleeps. Sometimes its freezing and I dont know how she does it. She also has problems urinating sometimes. Has anyone noticed this before?
Thanks for your help!

Hi Natalie -

How old is your daughter? Our daughter is 4 and she is always asking for the fan to be on when the rest of us are freezing. She frequently states she is hot, too. She was diagnosed the end of May and has been on pred. and now cytoxan and still has not gone into remission. Is your daughter on any diuretics? Our daughter is on 3 different ones, as without them, she stops urinating and really swells with excess water. That is due to her very low blood albumin levels.

Thanks Lynette- no shes not on any duiretics- shes not swelling- doctor states she will be either getting the biopsy or other meds within the month- she turned 3 in July. Good luck with everything and thanks for the reply

Our daughter would sweat like a pig, even in the middle of the winter. If your kidneys are not keeping the fluid exchange then it can cause the volume and composition of bodily fluids to be off. This maybe why she is so hot. Her body knows that it needs to get rid of the excess water she is retaining, visible or not. It has taken our daughter a long time to get back in balance and at one point I went to the Nephrologist and insisted that she was becoming malnourished. I was told that I had never seen her functioning as well as she was and this was her body was finally in balance. Hope this helps...
Good luck,
A

I was just diagnosed about 6 months ago and I have the same problem. Im constantly hot, especially at night and need the fan directly on my while on high. For my I believe its a combination of my swelling and medication. Maybe there is more to it... hmm

I cannot stand any temperature over 80. It makes me feel like I am going to pass out. It is a side effect of prednisone(steroids) and can make you feel pretty tired and worn out. Thank goodness for air conditioning.

Thanks for writing back- I finally got talking to the doctor and she did say that it will make her feel like that. I also found out that the steriods can cause leg discomfort if you have low potassium, so now im going to be making her eating something a day that is full of potassium! Thanks all for writing back!
