Hi everyone. My name is Dave and I’m currently interning at The NephCure Foundation. My responsibilities include organizing free Patient Family Education Seminars. NephCure has done many of these in the past, and we are looking to hold another successful seminar in Orlando, FL on November 22nd. (Location TBD).

Patient families and their friends will have the opportunity to present questions to some of the top professionals in the field of nephrology and learn more about Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS treatment options and research advances. Not only will you be provided with the most up-to-date knowledge, you will also be able to share your experiences with other patients that are diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome or FSGS.

We will need many helping hands reaching out to patient families in Florida. Responsibilities include contacting doctors and nephrologists in your area to notify their patients about the seminar, connecting with other kidney organizations, logistics (setting up at the venue, signs, chairs, tables), and organizing food and beverages. Also, if you’d like to attend but do not have the time to help, please let us know as soon as possible!

My wife and I attended a patient seminar in Philadelphia a couple of years ago. What a great experience! I would recommend it to anyone that has questions.

When will the location for this event be known? Being from Minnesota, if we're going to attend it would be nice to know sooner than later so we can get our plans in line. The last couple we didn't find out soon enough, so we couldn't get time off.

Let people know as soon as possible, who knows maybe we'll make a family vacation out of it.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your response and positive feedback. We're still ironing out details regarding the location for Orlando's seminar. Hopefully we will find out this week.

Once we find out, we'll let everyone know as soon as possible. One thing is for sure though -- your family will love Orlando!

Does this include patients with Minimal Change Disease?

These Patient Education Seminar's are awesome. We were lucky and attended one in San Diego. It is a great way to meet individuals and families in similar situations, to listen to expert key note speakers and learn about current research.
If you can attend it is a rewarding experience.

I attended a seminar in Philly a few years ago and it helped me better understand my FSGS. Living in S. Florida, I could not find a Doctor who was fluent enough with FSGS to help me. This seminar not only gave me more insight as to this disease, but also helped me meet other people, just like myself, who were going through the same disorder in their lives. I am looking forward to attending the next one in Orlando.
