MCD & Cellcept - anyone go into remission?

0 Recommendations

So I think Cellcept is next for me. Anyone go into remission w/Cellcept?

If so what other drugs were you on at the time? I have been on stupid pred for the past year and had a partial remission (just below 3 for a few mos) but that was it.

Hi Beth,
This is off topic but i did not know if you saw my reply on your message at MCD;
It has been a while since you wrote me. In the meantime we saw a FEMALE fam. doctor who prescribed the suppression stockings, knee high, for Steven. This is the first time, after you, that a doctor mentioned these for the swelling in his feet. They were all male physicians and maybe not so informed about the stockings. We will try them to-morrow. Unfortunately Steve got an agonizing pain in his big toe last week;
antibiotics were prescribed and he was very nauseated. I presume from the antibiotics but I think the cyclosporine does not help in that respect. We have given up on the glutenfree for now as that did not seem to get him any better. Maybe the toe is gout....how many more things does he have to suffer? For someone who is perfect weight, had tons of energy all his life - we have been married 46 years- never took any pills at all, now is taking them by the handful....we take it day by day and are thankful when a good day comes along. You take care and all the best to eveyone on this site.

Steven now takes 7 1/2 mg predn. every other day and 200 mg cyclosporine along with all the other stuff.

Hi Amelie,

Yes it has been a while, let me know how the compression stockings work out for Steven. They sold me some plastic gloves to help put them on, but I dont need them, I hope they showed him at the store how to put them on, if not let me know and I can tell you, I would not have figured it out on my own....for a while. Also, I have hiking boots that I wear (wearing them today) that compress the swelling in my feet and ankles, it is just so hard to walk being swollen. I watch them expand after taking them off.

I did see the info you put for the MCD and it was really good, it gives me hope, thank you very much!

I get pains in my toes and feet and shins from being low on potassium from the pred. I eat a banana a day and that helps and when I was really bad on a high dose of pred I also drank fortified cran/rasp juice which had 480mg of potassium per serving. I hope that is it and not something more serious.

take care!

Hi again,
just got back from the doctor who thinks it may be gout so quess what is the best for gout???prednisone!! so for 3 days 50 mg! this after he had been weaned down to seven and a half.....well if it helps then that is ok.
Will keep you posted. he got the one stocking, knee highs, on ok but of course the other with the sore toe was a no go. The instructions come with the stockings he kind of rolled it onto the leg.
Cheerio,
Amelie

oh no!!! don't forget to taper the pred again.
