Cyclosporine

Some say that cyclosporine blood levels are erratic. They may fluctuate widely even at the same dosage.

Our experience with cyclosporin is this: Our daughters levels varied greatly until we changed her dosage times to every eight hours. It wasn't fun, but we gave her a dose at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and then at midnight. After we did this, we never had a problem maintaining the proper trough level once we hit it.

Hope this helps.

Have you been taking her in for the trough before her dose is due?? For example, if she takes it every 12 hours, say at 8 and 8, do you take her for blood work before her morning 8am dose? If so, not sure why the levels would fluctuate so much???

Hi, yes we have been going for her bloods before the dose is due. We are seeing our neph on monday, so i will ask why this has happened. I did read online that red wine can dramatically reduce the cyc leveles and she did have "spag bowl" for dinner with a small amout of red in, but I do find it hard to beleive that this has effected the level so much.
