Gallstones, anyone?

0 Recommendations

I know I have gallstones because they were detected during an examination for something else entirely. In the past three or four years, I have had the occasional attack that I really suspect are gallbladder-y in nature. I know that gallstones/gallbladder disease can be caused by high cholesterol levels. I know I had high cholesterol in the past that went untreated, but since that problem was discovered, I have been treated aggressively and my cholesterol is now normal.

Knowing that high cholesterol is a problem for anyone with CKD, do any of you out there have problems with your gallbladder? I'm having an attack right now, and for the past three hours, I've been in terrible pain. It is abating right now, but oh goodness, it was awful. My 81 year old mother is flying in from Texas later today, and I cannot afford to be unwell.

Thanks.

That is what they said I had, before they found the FSGS. No lie I did have them.

Well, my pain is gone, thank god. I'm always careful about what I eat; I avoid fatty food because firstly, I don't really like it and secondly, I know it can cause an attack. I ate something I was unfamiliar with and it was fattier than I expected. Like classic gallbladder pain, it eased after about three and a half hours. Anyway, thanks for your reply, and I'll be eager to hear if anyone else who has CKD/high lipids also has gallbladder problems.

I am glad to see that you are thinking diet, and that diet can effect your gallbladder. There are also cleanings methods to help with this as well that are as simple as lemon juice and olive oil to clear out the sludge or even the stones. You can find the natural methods to help flush your gallbladder here:

Thanks for the link, Dux. I had a read of it, and apparently you start the cleanse by drinking/eating a quite remarkable amount of apple juice/apples. Wouldn't that send your potassium level to its highest heights? I have to take sodium bicarbonate tablets (6 a day!) to control my potassium, so eating so many apples would cause me concern. Do you think it would be safe for CKD patients to do this cleanse?

Hi there

I got my gallbladder removed about 2 years before I got MCD and it was the best thing ever. I could eat and drink whatever I wanted to. I would definitely recommend it.
