We should do our own trial study. If anyone is game I am. We can keep in contact via this website.
First you must ok it with your doctor! then contact me. We can start it as a whole this month.

can aloe vera pills work too? i just bought two bottles of aloe vera pills from the pharmacy store...

I am game for the trial. I have a routine apptmt with my nephrologist next Monday & I will check with him if it is ok for me to try & I will let you know.

cool!

smhong - if it has no sugar or sodium...straight aloe.

Keep me posted with any new information. This is good information

I have an appointment with my nephro this thursday and I will ask him. We can start this on Memorial Day if everyone is ready!?

WOW, this is a wonderful story. Aloe Juice...and I thought they only put it in sunscreen and lotions. They really do need to do a study with this for those who have the disease you guys are suffering from. There needs to be so much more put into different types of treatments in my opinion. Who knows, this could help others as well.

Our daughter (24) has had FSGS for 8 years and has been taking aloe water from day one. 4 ounces in morning and 4 at night. Docs are amazed she still has kidneys. Her first nephrologist said of aloe -- it can't hurt, so fine by me.

since your daughter has had fsgs for 8 yrs. Can you tell us what stage she is in? Also what is the best brand of aloe juice?

Do they think aloe water helps with other types of kidney problems and other diseases as well?

louink08 - does your daughters neph think the aloe juice has helped? I'm interested in what stage she is in too. I'm slowly working my way to stage 4 after 22 years and if aloe would slow it down even more, I'll be all over it. I'll have to give my neph a call on Tuesday and see what she has to say.

Hi MamaG,

I am going to picke up some aloe vera juice tonite. It has also been recommended for my UC on the board I go on for that. On that board there is always discussion about how diet plays a role, though most Dr.'s do not have proof it does, we are all different and I believe have our own triggers and as there is so much unknown, why not give it a whirl.

For my UC I avoid coffee when flaring and oranges. For me personally the acidity in those somehow affects me making my symptoms worse.

Will keep you posted!

Well I am waiting to hear from all of you when we can get this going! I would like to start by June 1st?

Hey all... I am game but I have to talk to my neph first... I do not go back until June 23rd... so, start a little before me and I will let you know! Luckily I respond really well to the prednisone and I am starting to be taken off so I don't want to start something new without talking to him first...

Hey there... I've started doing a little research on the aloe juice... it says that it can also be used as a laxative... the mayo clinic website had some interesting information about it...

ok, I started the Aloe Vera juice this am. I got Natures... at the Vitamin Shoppe the whole leaf kind and drank 2oz of it. I put it over ice and I thought it was going to come right back up, horrible taste. But I will drink it through a straw next time and maybe mix with something. After the taste was out of my mouth, just rinsed w/water, I was fine.

I also started my probiotics up again (flaring w/my uc).

ok, I am going to throw away my aloe vera juice when I get home, no wonder why the person at the Vitamin Shoppe asked if I was cleansing my system. I will look into the gel. The info about the juice says that it may be harmful.

Answers of our daughter, 24, who drinks aloe vera water:
-- Never been told what stage she is in because while biopsies showed scarring, her kidneys work OK. She has high cholesterol, low albumin in blood, fatigue, some edema, etc.
-- They expected her to lose kidneys long ago she has not. No one knows if it is aloe vera water or not, but we continue to use it
-- By the way, it is not aloe vera Juice but water -- George's in the brand at Vitamin Shoppes. Colorless, tasteless, odorless. I hear juice is awful
-- Kinda of expensive, more than $20 a gallon, I think, but we dare not stop.
Will answer any other Qs. Good luck to all.

So, what is the different between aloe juice and aloe water? How to look for the correct one? Since beth already point out that aloe latex/ aloe juice is actually can harm the kidney, so that we must becareful when want to start having the aloe..juice or water..? What the brand you are having now?
