Treatment and medications

If healthy lifestyle choices aren't enough to protect bones, your healthcare provider may recommend that you take an FDA-approved medicine to help you reduce your risk of fractures. Deciding which treatment choice is right for you isn't always easy. When choosing a medicine, you and your healthcare provider should consider your age, gender, menopausal status (women only), how severe your osteoporosis is, other health problems you may have and your personal preference.
