Never thought this would be happening to me. Osteoporosis. I have said this name "osteoporosis" several times. I am in the 3rd stages of osteoporosis
and I am not willing to take this setting down. What I would really like is for my health care provider to be honest with me. I have had to reach into cyberspace to find out the side effects of the medicines I have been on and am on now.
I was on Fosamax about 2 months, the side effects were awful. Several months later (almost 6 months) and I am still having pain. I had swelling of the legs and ankles and terrible pain in my arms, mostly in my left besept, hurts as I speak. Oh, yes, when I questioned my HCP about the swelling he stated, "be careful of blood clots." Let me know if you have any swelling. Well, big whoop de do, I WAS telling him about the swelling. I am a retired Phlebotomy Tech(on SS) and I started working as a school bus driver. (LORD takes us to strange and exciting places). Anyway, I would set and exercise my ankles to help keep the swelling down. Was embarrassed to wear a dress and could not wear my pumps. Anyway, I stopped taking the Fosamax on my own.
I am now on what is called Infused Bonvia, have had one infusion. Not much better. I still have a lot of swelling and pain. I asked "ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS" I was told NO. Well, that is not true. The swelling, needing to walk for exercise (too hot where I live) and mood swings, etc. I know mood swings is not listed as a side effect, don't care, I know what I know. It is awful. I am not a mean person, but sometimes I wish I had the courage to tell my HCP just where he can put his Bonvia. And might I add, having the infusion in the doctors office will cost me $93 (after ins)every three months. If I go to an independent lab it would cost me next to nothing. The doctor's business office knew this, but just failed to past that little bit of information on to me.
I have been doing research in cyberspace and found that the body needs strength building to cause the body to keep and produce calcium. I have ordered Total Gym and an hopeful that will help. The cost of this machine is almost more than I can afford, but if it helps to keep and restore my bones then it will be worth the cost. I am hopeful that 20 minutes a day to start and no more than 30 minutes a day to get the results I need.
I have said what I have to say and hopefully from now on I will post only positive statements.
HE is the Lamp unto my feet and a Light unto my path
