The National Bone Health Alliance (NBHA) was featured in an article last week raising awareness about the importance of bone density testing, especially after a fracture. Only 23% of older women who experience a fracture are tested or treated for osteoporosis, not to mention the non-fracture patients at risk of osteoporosis who are not being tested. A 51-year-old patient who recently broke her leg posted on NBHA’s Facebook page that she requested a bone density test after reading the article.
Please join us in spreading the word about osteoporosis. Encourage your friends and family to talk to their healthcare providers about bone health and bone density testing.
NBHA's 2Million2Many Campaign (www.2Million2Many.org) highlights the two million broken bones that occur each year that are no accident. While we know we have much to accomplish, we hope that this initiative is spreading awareness about osteoporosis, testing and treatment.
