Improvement in 2nd DXA Scan

0 Recommendations

Well I've just had my second DXA scan after the customary 2 year wait. My first one the radiologist recommended that I be retested in one year, but I guess the docs don't want to push the insurance.

My first report from 2007 showed my T-scores at -4.2 in L2 to L4 Spine, and -3.9 in Proximal Femurs (hips).

My new report shows L2 to L4 Spine as -3.2 and proximal femurs at -3.2 also. The improvement in the Lumbar spine is 15.5%, and in the hips it's 12.1%.

I suppose my rheumatologist will credit the alendronate/fosamax, along with the calcium, vitamin D3, and magnesium. I believe the strontium citrate is also a strong contributor. I've been exercising, but still have room for improvement, and plan to do more. This is only bone density, but it gives me hope and good reason to keep on course. Doc plans to end the alendronate after this the 3rd year. He is considering trying me on Denosumab if it's approved. If it looks safe, I hope my part-D will cover it.
