I have a brand-new, spanking fresh great-niece, born this morning in Arizona to my middle niece. The baby's name is Carly.
One problem: My mother-in-law can't say her name. She calls her "Collie." That's closer than some pronunciations for her. Another little boy in the family has the name "Caleb." She calls him Kala.
She's a sweet lady, but she has problems hearing and repeating things. It's a long-running family joke.
For instance:
Fraud=frog
Hysterectomy= hyster rectum
hydrangea= high geranium
juniper= jennifer
We're still waiting around to hear weight and length, etc. about the baby. I know we'll enjoy her...but it's a long way from Arizona to Georgia. Thank God for email.
