vitamin E and stomach discomfort

0 Recommendations

I started taking 50,000 IU of vitamin E just one week ago, I noticed just in the last 2 or 3 days that my stomach feels a little funny, is this my imagination, or is it something that comes with this?
I am suppose to take once a month.
Some input, please.

Hey katydid,
You must mean Vitamin D, 50,000U, I doubt anyone could find Vit E 50,000U.

Vitamin D is LIKELY SAFE when taken by mouth in recommended amounts. Most people do not commonly experience side effects with vitamin D, unless too much is taken. Some side effects of taking too much vitamin D include weakness, fatigue, sleepiness, headache, loss of appetite, dry mouth, metallic taste, nausea, vomiting, and others. webmd

I'm sorry, I mistyped, I do mean vitamin D, not E.
Sorry

katydid: Since you are taking prescription strength Vitamin D, I am assuming you have a doctor who did all the requisite testing. I find the once a month D prescription puzzling, particularly as a beginning dose. Do you have a history of intestinal problems? Are you taking anything other than the D?

I take 50,000 of vitamin D once a week. My doctor prescribed it for just six weeks, but I am going to ask her to extend it so that I can continue taking it once every other week for a long time. I do not absorb Vitamin D and when first tested had 0. I do get nauseous for a few hours. I read a very good interview with Dr.Michael Holick on healthranger.org. You might find it helpful.
