Surgery is Scheduled, May I Request your Prayers?

I had to put this under osteoporosis medications because thanks to Reclast, I have these cataracts that have taken so much of my vision.

I went to the ophthalmologist again yesterday and I have to have surgery. They will do my right eye on 8/15 and my left eye on 9/12.

I am nervous because my last relapse of Reclast symptoms was at the end of May and if it runs true to form, I will have another at the end of August. I hope it doesn't happen and is out of my system, because I don't want any complications. But, I would sure appreciate prayers that this goes well for me. Thank you for reading this. LTC

LTC, You will be in my thoughts and prayers! I had a friend just go through the cataract surgery. I drove her home. She was pretty medicated, and once she was home she slept it off. Quite a few drops to put in the eye. She is fine now. Had both eyes done. I hope you do not get another Reclast relapse. My sister calls cataract surgery a miracle. She has always worn glasses, so she doesn't have to anymore. Keep the faith, and keep hydrated in this hot weather!

Sally, Thank you for the encouragement and kind words and especially the prayers. My Mom said once I had both eyes done, it would seem like a miracle. Thanks again, I appreciate that you took the time to comfort. LTC

Trust that you won't have any problems. I understand your concerns with Reclast, but many people have cataracts that don't take osteo meds. I have a small cataract that is being watched, but so far isn't affecting my eyesight. But I've spoken with many people that have gone through the surgery that I don't think I would have concern. It's never pleasant to have surgery of any kind, but you need to have good eye sight for your crochet projects. Know that you are standing on our shoulders .... you will get through this.

Sandi. Thamk you so much, your words are very comforting. The cataracts happened so fast and this one is so bad that it has to be taken care of now, or I would have waited to see if I have a relapse and go after that. At least the hospital called me today and I can take my normal meds the day of surgery. I feel much better knowing that, because once I take my meds, it takes an hour and a half to two hours before I can starting moving in the morning. I do thank you very much for your kindness. LTC

LTC, We're all here for you. You'll be a whole new woman after both eyes are done. We have a friend who had cataracts developed rapidly due to his diabetes. He had no insurance, so it took months before he could make arrangements to have the surgery. He had the surgery & all is fine now. He is even back to driving.

When my Dad has his done he said it was like a miracle. He asked me what those odd things were growing on a tree on the next door garden - they were apples! He hadn't even seen them before. He did have one complaint though . . . who was that old man that kept looking back at him from the bathroom mirror lol He was 75 at the time. Got eerything crossed that you don't have a reclast relapse and you will be in my prayers for the operation.

LTC, I understand your being nervous. It's normal to be nervous when you've not gone through this before but you are going to be fine and you will be so happy when it's over and you can see again! I know I was so excietd to see the colors so vividly after my Cataract surgery. My Cataracts weren't too bad before the Reclast infusion but it seems their growth advanced very rapidly after the infusion. No way of knowing whether or not Reclast caused the spurt in growth but I'm sure glad to have those Cataracts gone! You will be in my prayers my friend. You're a very special lady! =)

LTC, I am new to this forum and while I am taking Reclast I am not sure I understand some of the side effects. One sure thing though is that you are going to be in my prayers.
The people I know who have had the surgery are very happy now. Keep this in mind as you are getting ready to have the procedure. Think of it as a little bump on the road. You know He is with you.
Courage, have faith, there will be plenty of crochet(ing) for you in the future!

Ltc, everything will be alright, you are in my prayers, tooooons of luv from texas!!!

LTC, I am sorry for all you have been thru. I always read your posts! I am sending you lots of thoughts and prayers, and I know you will be better when it is over!

Tp Each and Everyone of You: Thank you so much for all your prayers and good thoughts. I was actually feeling better about it.

But, I have news to report. I had a very severa asthma attack this morning at 5 am, then had vomiting and all that goes with that. I was buring up with a fever. I got in to see my doctor and she wanted to send me right to the hospital. I have to go for test tomorrow, chest x-ray and blood work, she thinks I have pneumonia. So for now, the first surgery has been cancelled. I go back to the doctor Monday morning and she said I will either see you in the office or in the hospital. They gave me a shot of antibiotic and a shot of steroids, plus prescritions for both. I hope this is better by Monday. My fever did break, so that's good news. I am so sorry that I didn't reply to each of individually, I am so weak and have slept most of the day, so please forgive me. LTC

LTC, I am so sorry to hear about this new development! Glad to hear that the fever is gone because that is a good sign. I hope that you do not have pneumonia.
I also hope that you have someone close who can be with you if needed if only for support.
Take care of yourself, hang in there, another bump in the road. Let us know how you are doing.
Warm thoughts and prayers are going your way.
Big hugs!♥♥♥

LTC, I'm so very sorry about this. Maybe your getting the 3 month relapse taken care of earlier so you can have a little longer to gain strength, then, you can have that surgery. It's better that you have this happen now, rather than after. Everything happens for a reason. You rest and gain strength. Take it easy now my friend. Keep us updated.

To Tcheka: I am so glad ythat the fevrt is finally gone, it was over 102 in the doctor's office. You're right, another bump in the road. I am so very tired and weak. but I think the medicine is working. Thank you for you kindess and warm thoughts. I appreciaite it very much. LTC

Maria: You could be right about the relapse coming early, but I didn't have the severe pain. I talked to Jerri earlier, then went to sleep and didn't even watch General Hospital, that just doesn't happen. I can't believe how weak I am, but I am keeping food down, so that is a good thing. Thank you for your warm thought, my friend. It seems I really need them now. LTC

Dear LTC, so sorry to hear that you are feeling bad and that your first cataract surgery is cancelled.
I'm thinking like Mariah, perhaps it is your Reclast relaps and I really really hope it is changing "it's ugly face", that it will be very short and that it doesn't give you the bad pain anymore. I'm sending a lot of good wishes that you will feel better tomorrow. Warm hugs /Lela

Hi Lela, I sure hope that it is a relapse from Reclast. I had to go to the hospital this morning for a chest x-ray and blood work. I just hope and pray that the x-ray comes out okay. Thank you for your good wishes. LTC

LTC, When you're able, please let us know how you're doing. Prayers are going up for you. Take care friend.

As you can see many people care a lot about you and follow you.
Your job is to rest and take care of yourself, be hopeful and keep positive thoughts in your head. That is very important while you are weak. All this positive thinking is doing good for your body!
Do not worry about replying to these posts, we understand.
Sending you hugs!

LTC, I had both eyes done and it was a breeze. No pain what so ever. Not even after I got home. It'll be over before you realize it. I asked when were they going to begin...the nurse laughed and said, "It's all over!"

The only thing that's a 'pain,' is having to put all the drops in the eyes following the surgery. In my case, I had to put drops for a month. Get a pen and paper ready. :o)

I will certainly pray for you.

God bless.

Tcheka: It has humbled me reading all these post giving caring and encouragement and I appreciate it so very much. I went to the hospital today and got blood work and a chest x-ray that confirmed pneumonia. I was so wiped out when I got back home, I went to sleep for several hours. It is only 7:15 and I am already for bed. Thanks so much for everything. LTC

AnnahD: Thank you so much for telling me that and other people have told me the same thing. Now that my surgery is cancelled, the won't do it until I am completely over this and my family doctor gives clearance. It's funny, because my Mom said the drops were a pain in the butt, too. I appreciate your prayers and concern, as I said above, I am completely humbled by all the people who care. Thank you so very much. LTC
