Wondering if anyone uses liqued vitamins for osteprosis My doctor prescribed boniva but I am choosing not to take it. I really would like some suggestions on some brands of liqued vitamins. If anyone can help me out I would apprciate it.

p-a-t, supposedly liquid vitamins start to be absorbed in our systems on the way down our esophagus or in our stomachs instead of waiting to get to the intestines. Both GNC and Vitamin World have liquid calcium. You can shop other brands on the web. Seems one of the newest wrinkles is 'fresh' vitamins, minerals and supplements that are being touted on the web these days. I use Vitamin World's softgel calcium capsules that are liquid inside and burst in your stomach. Can't say I wanted to swallow the liquid stuff right from the bottle.

I have never heard of liquid magnesium but it might be out there. There is, of course, Phillips Milk of Magnesia but not a good idea to purge yourself every day just to get magnesium.

Best to you - juliemarie

Thanks juilemarie I've been on line searching and found a product called nsi liquid calcium citrate & magnesium orange flavored liquid. It has 200 IU Vitamin D3 2400mg calcium citrate and 1440mg magnesium citrate. I ordered it today and hope that it will take the place of the boniva.

Hi Pat I take a liquid calcium and mag instead of pills which they say are not absorbed as well as the liquids
its not that easy to find a liquid cal with magnesium but I got one made by Bluebonnet co. its ok tast is chalky though , thats all I take and I have had great results just do the weight vest from NYK and the liquid calcium - it seems to work ok for me.
I have taken one pill of calcium a few years ago which I got in a little health food store which was THE BEST
it really made my bones improve really pain free so I know it was working but I forget the name I will go back to that store and find out the name to let everybody know about that stuff - it was amazing!
I think it was like a calcium citrate with magnesium
I forgot the brand though

I wonder about magnesium CITRATE....... As a daily mineral. i do have it as that in tablet that I bought for MAGNESIUM--
then I noticed that the little cheap, green liquid that was prescribed for cleansing before the colonoscopy was MAGNESIUM CITRATE-[you've seen it?] so, I WONDER at CITRATE being laxative-
I do take magnesium daily and am now to the point of testing [?] to take or not to take this one magnesium. I have asked and searched about it in citrate form...still, I wonder-- in that capsule or tablet is white powder. and magnesium is ground rock..right?

Pat -- I've been taking the NSI liquid calcium/mag for some time now (Twin Labs gel caps in the morning, liquid cal/mag in the evening, usually when I can't fathom swallowing more pills). It has a pleasant, light orange taste, not chalky at all.

Be sure to read the label on the NSI brand, though: look for the amount of ELEMENTAL calcium in comparison to the total calcium. The elemental calcium is the amount that your body can absorb. As I recall, the amount in NSI liquid is 500 mg. I tried to confirm this on their site, but it's temporarily down.

Also, if you haven't had your vitamin D level tested, I strongly recommend having it done. You need an adequate amount of vitamin D to absorb calcium. The Vitamin D Council (www.vitamindcouncil.org) has some good info.

Love this one, Wellesse liquid 1000 mg calcium (elemental) and 1000 IU vit D, tastes good.
From Costco and drug stores.
