I personally am an overweight male and lifelong Diet Pepsi drinker who recently switched to Crystal Light because I learned that most carbonated soft drinks contain sodium benzoate or potassium benzoate. (I like to always add some vitamin C powder into all my drinks to prevent cancer-causing nitrosamines in many foods from causing stomach cancer or esophageal cancer in me. Unfortunately, vitamin C combines with sodium benzoate and/or potassium benzoate to form a cancer-causing chemical called benzene). Crystal Light does not contain sodium benzoate, potassium benzoate, phosphoric acid, caffeine, or carbonation (carbon dioxide). It does contain aspartame (Nutrasweet/Equal), which causes cancer in rats but probably not in humans. Acesulfame potassium also causes cancer in rats but probably not in humans. Sucralose (Splenda) does not cause cancer in either rats or humans so it is the best choice for applications that require huge quantities of sweetener. What I don't understand is why the phosphoric acid in cola drinks causes an acid problem in our blood which requires our bone calcium to be used as an alkaline defense but the hydrochloric acid in our stomachs doesn't harm our bones in the same way. I guess it's because the hydrochloric acid in our digestive tract can't enter our bloodstream while the phosphoric acid in our digestive tract can enter our bloodstream and does.
