Reclast IV for osteoporosis

0 Recommendations

I would like to hear from others who have had a bad reaction to Reclast and to hear what they are doing about it. Have they reported the results to the FDA? Is there a support group available, even by e-mail or phone? Has any one filed a law suit to help cover the medical and dental bills associated with the bad reaction? What can we do to warn others about the side effects? I was assured that the medication was safe when I took it, but I know now that it poisoned my body.

I take oral Boniva once a month. I have heard that even oral Boniva can have very bad side effects. I am so confused. What is the best way to treat osteoporosis?

Sadly--- such drugs as RECLAST are placed on the market because of pressure from the Drug Company itself without adequate monitoring of side effects by the FDA. Such side effects only become apparent after the drug is introduced into the health care market.

WE are all responsible for such adverse effects. And in this area -- the consumer must take charge ! I myself made a last moment decision not to take ReClast -- based on my own history of drug sensitivity, including Aspirin, and a history of having severe bone pain as a side effect to oral Actonel.

And the prescriping physician was one of the best out there !

Since my DEXA scores showed a reversal of osteoporosis to the osteopenia/ normal levels--- I opt to remain on my quarterly Boniva Injections.

Still I am vigilant about side effects, developments and studies coming out in this very new area of clinical medicine.

After many adverse effects.... reported and linked fatal heart episodes.... etc. I am sure that the legal sorts will get involved. But that does not reverse such damages.

I have now received the bill from Mayo where I went to try to get some relief from the muscle aches and pains that I have had ever since I had Reclast IV #2. My sleep is so disturbed that I am never rested, possibly because of the pain that even Lortab does not touch. The Mayo expenses plus the dental expenses associated with the Reclast have drained my bank account. I need some help!

I would like to join a class action suit against the company to try to get this medication off the market. Does anyone know how to do this or how to find a good attorney?

I had a reclast infusion on May 14, 2009 and that evening, I have never hurt so bad in my life. I call my Dr. and she had to call in a scrip for pain meds. The arm and neck side where I had the infusion in I couldn't move for 8 hours. I just laid in the floor and just about screamed. It took 3 days before I could function to move. NEVER will I do the infusion of this med again. I know that something that has this effect on the body can't be helping it much. I'm still in a lot of pain, just not as bad.

I had a bad reaction to reclast......severe pain everywhere (not flu like ) for 3-4 days. I did get some relief when I took Ibuprofen. I had this in Nov. 2008. My hair has also become very thin and does not grow like it used to. When I called the Novartis people about the side effects they just read back to me what the phamplet that you receive when you take the drug said. My Dr. also assured me that side effects were rare and mostly in people who had other medical problems. To report side effects, I am told , you must allow access to your med records and they will need to talk to your Dr. as well as multiple papers to fill out. It isn't easy, very time consuming , and once you feel a little better, who wants to bother.
