Reclast Infusion Questions

0 Recommendations

Please tell me if you have been infused w/reclast and what your experience has been. I was to start Forteo tomorrow but my insurance company excludes coverage for Forteo. Now my doctor wants me to have Reclast infusions. I have had (3) compressions in my spine, (3) fractured ribs on the right side, and (4) on the left. I can just cough and break bones. Thank you for your help.

Click on the Search feature and type in "Reclast". There are quite a few posts on this.

susie, i had reclast last nov. had no side effect let U know when i am check again, should be in late nov. U had so much trouble i belive i go with it, but again its up to U . ---- Iola

Susie: The answer to your question: Yes, Reclast is categorized as a bisphosphonate. But the IV types are much more powerful than the oral types and last longer. As this is a once a year infusion, the side effects can also be magnified. Now you might not have the side effects, but you should be aware that they do exist. This is why I would really like you to type in Reclast in the Search box and read the experiences of others.
Also, I sent you a Friend request. Should you accept, you can then email me privately and vice-versa.

I had a reclast infusion 09/18/09. I have had no side effects.

I had a reclast infusion March 2009 and have had no side effects.

Daughter (age 16!) had Reclast in August. Side affects were uncomfortable for a few days and managed with Advil. She described it as "bone pain" particulary in her legs, ran a low fever for less than 24 hours. Symptoms peaked at appx day 2.5 and then got significantly better. Make sure you drink lots of water prior to and during because doctor was monitoring kidney functions closely. Due to her age and the limited experience with giving Reclast to peds, she was admitted to hospital overnight just to make sure reaction was managable.

We did not realize until 2 weeks later that she had a spinal fracture (2nd) and it seemed to heal a bit faster than the first. Might be wishful thinking. First set of labs this week may give us some data points to effectiveness.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you all for your quick response to my question relating to Reclast Infusions. This site is just wonderful. Have a beautiful day, and thanks again.

I had a reclast infusion in 6/09. I suffered extreme bilateral leg and foot pain which began within 2 weeks after the infusion. This lasted until 7/09 and then it started to diminish. My doctor said that this was probably not caused by the reclast, however nothing else could be contributed to this. I have not taken relcast again this year. I still have the leg pain but it is intermittant and much less now. Hope you have good luck with it.

Susie, I have had two reclast infusions with no side effects.
