Hello, first post.

Well above is a short list of my medical difficulties...I have been bedridden for 4 1/2 years due to severe pain and fatigue. Tests after tests...doctors to specialists all over. I am on many medications for pain. The osteporosis was discovered about 3 months ago after a DEXA scan was taken. At that point my blood work indicated I was just at the start of "perimenopause". After scan, doctor took more blood work, determined HYPOparathyroid which I understand is rare, and hypothyroid. I had had Hashimotos Thyroiditis for many years. Went to an Endo, discovered a growth on "grossly" enlarged thyroid. Had Fine Needle Aspiration...looks like non-cancerous. I did not feel confident in current Endo so I see new one in two weeks. Currently my medication for thyroid is Syntroid(but generic) and for bones "Fortical" nasal spray. Have any of you taken this nasal spray? Oh also btw, I went into sudden menopause over a 6 month time....from almost perimenopause to being labled as postmenopausal. Guess I have to make an appt for a doctor for that. Can't list all of my health issues...too many. But I am so tired of it all. I have 3 children 19 to 24 yrs and a VERY understanding husband. Any way thank you for reading. I look forward to hearing from anyone in similar situations or someone that just wants to touch base. I spend much time reading posts, but it is hard for me to type...which makes it hard to post much. Thank you.

I am very sorry that you have gone through so very many health problems. My heart feels for you as I can relate only in a small way. I'm 46 as well, soon to be 47! I've had osteo (severe) for at least 7 years...I broke a hip 7 years ago, compression fractures in the back and my wrist a year ago. I also went through perimenopause in my early 40's and haven't had a cycle in almost 2 years. Had a parathyroid tumor (benign) removed in November. It's been a struggle as most of us here can relate. I just don't want you to feel alone. Maybe it is time for you to find a new doctor..........also check out this website...www.parathyroid.com (there is some really good info on their.)
My prayers are with you..

Joanie,

Thank you so much for your reply and your prayers, mine are with you as well. You are suffering as I am. I have been on the parathyroid site you have suggested. Have you been able at all to be functional? I mean most days it is a struggle to get out of bed. I walk with a cane and force myself with a heavy dose of painkillers to go somewhere one day a week where I must walk...ie: grocery store. But it wipes me out. I have microvascular problems as well as Raynauds, so my legs and feet turn purple and swell up. I am also in fear of breaking a bone as you have. I have balance issues and have fallen a few times. My husband has installed a handrail to get out of the shower, when I do take a shower...LOL. My life is TV and having my husband in the room with me. Even our physical life together has suffered due to the pain I experience. Tv is now my friend...I used to watch it very little as I was soooo active.
You have comforted me in letting me know that someone heard me. You do not know how much that means to me.

gentle hugs

Thanks for your note! You are a very strong woman to go through all of this. My symptoms are nothing compared to yours. But I do know how it can all be discouraging and depressing, especially at a young age. You will continue to be in my prayers. I think you will learn a lot on this site...I haven't been here for 2 long but there is some solid, good information. I'm praying that healing will take place in your body, my dear. One day at a time!
Hugs to you...
Joanie
