Osteoporosis and Epidural Injections

0 Recommendations

Before my back surgery, I was advised not to use epidural injections for pain because of my osteoporosis. Another friend has received several epidurals for pain and her doctor said there is no danger to her severe osteoporosis. Does anyone know the real truth?

I know that epidural injections (steroidal and novacaine) do relieve pain, novacaine lasts a day or so, and hopefully the steroid will diminish inflammation. The shot can be given to the same area only 3 times. But STEROIDS WEAKEN BONES. So it is a catch 22. Google steroid shots effects on bones. Maybe you will find a definite answer. Good luck
