yes, I have been taking osteodenx and 2 related supplements since last May. delighted with the results. for further detailed information, please email me direct.

Hi SLLJ,

At your convenience, please provide additional details. For example, are you taking Osteodenx daily? Are the supplements also from Nikken? Are you delighted with the DEXA results and/or because you are feeling better?

I am not sure how to find your email. My email is sylvia6789@gmail.com. Thanks!

<3 Sylvia

Dear SllJ -- Please give all of us the answers to <3Slyvia's questions re Osteodenx. Or, if you feel that breaches your agreement with Team Inspire, my email is psimon45@gmail.com.

Thanks!

I'd appreciate hearing the answers to the above questions. Thanks.

When I mentioned this product to my doctor, she said if it was really something affective, a drug company would have bought it and the FDA would have approved it. Not a 100% convincing to me, but does make some sense. Of course, perhaps the company that makes Osteodenx may have refused to sell it to a large drug company.

I am not totally impressed by this expensive product. Researched the ingredients and I do not see how bone is affected. There are many websites promoting the product, not any websites giving the real facts.
Ingredient websites: http://www.vitamintrader.com/articles/2007_01_lactoferrin.html
http://www.raysahelian.com/hyaluronic-acid.html

Not reading anything about the other ingredients: bromelian, folic acid, turmeric, zinc, glucosamine, and chronditin so far as benefiting osteoporosis.

Elaine,
Why are you pleased with this supplement?

Here is a bit of information on the ingredients in the OsteDenx:

Developed by Dr. Narain Naidu, the world’s leading lactoferrin researcher. Nikken’s OsteoDenx formula is the first breakthrough technology in the area of Bio-Replenishment. OsteoDenx is a complete bone health management system which optimizes the levels of all minerals involved in bone metabolism, increases absorption of minerals that are too low, and increases excretion of minerals that are too high. OsteoDenx is an all natural whole-food nutrition, has no negative side effects, and can be taken safely with other supplements or prescription drugs.

Ingredients:
Lactoferrin: Naturally-occurring protein found in most body fluids, enhances immunity
Researchers have discovered that lactoferrin plays an important role in bone metabolism. Lactoferrin increases the rate of bone formation up to 5 times, reduces the rate at which bone cells die by 50-70%, and also increases the cells that build cartilage. This results in increased bone density, with promising implications for the treatment of conditions such as fractures and osteoporosis. When combined with its powerful anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory abilities, the potential exists for significant benefits to arthritis and other degenerative joint conditions. Additional nutrients in the formula include: Hyaluronic Acid enhances hydration of tissues, cellular repair, facilitates transport of nutrients into cells and removal of waste products, Bromelain, natural anti-inflammant and pain reliever, Vitamin D, essential for the absorption of calcium in the body, Folic Acid, lowers homocysteine levels (associated with osteoporosis and fractures) Zinc, essential for formation of the collagen matrix of bone, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, facilitates joint repair through regeneration of cartilage, Chondroitin Sulfate, works synergistically with glucosamine to facilitate joint repair, Turmeric Root Extract, a natural anti-inflammatory.
OsteoDenxTM is not a calcium supplement.
It is a potentiator (activator) of calcium and other minerals already in the system. In other words, it makes the minerals we take in more available to our systems and allows us to receive their full benefits.
Suggestions for use:
Take at evening meal along with Nikken’s Calcium Plus absorbed best with food utilized best during sleep.

Hey Wellness, I am aware of that vague info for bone health still I am not convinced. The probability of the benefits you listed are not bone reality. It appeals to the desperate, guess I have not arrived. But those ingredients in OsteoDenx would not cause adverse health issues equal to the Bisphosphonates. Most likely cause a pain the purse.

I take anecdotal testimony with a grain of salt. I need data backed up with published studies. BUT...If you feel better, am more ambulatory, and pain-free, I am not one to object. I agree with Char42 though, the improvements your and others have felt may be unrelated to the supplements. The dr. who developed Osteodenx certainly looks credible. Biophosphnates can cause joint pain and I stopped taking them out of what is perhaps illogical fear, but just because something is not pharmeceutical does not mean it is safe. Thanks for the info Elaine. I would like to see some pre and post dexa scores from folks using Osteodenx. P.S. Arthritis is not osteoporosis. That seems to be a little mixed up in the testimonials.

Please explain what osteodenx is. I never heard of
it before. I have osterporosis and want to learn how
to handle it. I have been using Forteo for 30 days. After reading health articles from you and Vivian Goldschmidt, I would never consider using anything else. I just chose Forteo because I read that it is the only supplement that actually builds new bone. I want to learn how to make my bones healthy and
strong to prevent fractures, since I am a senior citizen and engage in dangerous outdoor activities.

Many thanks to all who have researched this product. I have a few questions, Elaine. Nikken does seem to be a distributor-based company instead of a multi-level company. A big recommendation in my opinion. I did locate a distributor in my area. I also looked at the Osteodenx fact sheet on the Nikken website, some reviews of the company and Char42's websites.

I wonder why this is sold soley via layman distributors instead of doctors-especially alternative and complementary practitioners who often advise powerful formulations outside of Big Pharma. The ingredients seem to be natural so Big Pharma would not be able to patent them-an item in favor of Osteodenx and why it isn't on prescription.

However, the company's fact sheet does warn that if a person is allergic to any of its ingredients-not to take it!

Here is my really crazy chemistry: I am violently allergic to milk: cow's, goat's, buffalo-raw, unpasturized or pasturized. It is not lacto-intolerance it is nearly toxic to my system. Cheeses, custards, ice cream are all difficult to impossible for my body to accept. I wonder how the lacto-ingredient would go.

I tried to take a Glucosamine-Chondroitin supplement with nauseous results. My chiropractor told me to take gelatin capsules instead, and I do. No bad reaction and I have better hair and nails as a bonus. No arthritic pains or joint swelling.

I also noticed that Citric Acid was an additional ingredient, often used as a preservative. It is really Vitamin C and very benign to most people. Sodium Bicarbonate can be used to soothe a too-acid stomach or prevent nausea from the ingredients. I wonder why they needed to add this. A friend of mine who has taken Fosamax for 18 years was also prescribed Nexium to counteract any bad side effect. This Bi-carb additiion smacks closely to that situation.

As for the other things:
Folic acid is part of the Vitamin B-Complex and very key keeping our systems healthy, Hyaluronic Acid is used to ease the pain of arthritis, Bromelain is a natural enzyme from such things as pineapple and a wonderful aid in digestion. High-end supplements often use enzymes to make the formulations more absorbable in our bodies and thus, more bio-available.
Zinc is part of the bone-building process-also good for hair and nails. Tumeric root is used to combat inflammation that wreaks havoc on aging bodies. It is also an ingredient in Middle Eastern curries-yum, eat up!

Has anyone had a DEXA test that showed improvement because of OsteoDenx? The rhetorical reports seem to address the arthritic problem rather than the bone problem that we are addressing on this site.

When I was diagnosed with osteo, I wanted to jump on anything, except the bisphosphonates, that would 'cure' it. After still suffering from the calcitonin therapy, I have learned to be more cautious.

I am going to ask both my conventional doctor and my alternative doctor about this formulation. Maybe I will stick my toe into OsteoDenx if they think the ingredients will be safe for me.

I love how much we are all learning! Again, thank you to all who share possibilities and new therapies because at this point, there are no magic cures.

That was my question in a past email.

Please let me know if this DEXA information is on the OsteoDenx website. I didn't find it. I'm having trouble keeping my DEXA scores stable and would love to find a product that would help. So far I have had no fractures.

Another reason besides price that I am not impressed:
http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/DSH/glucosamine.html

Can hardly wait for Quackwatch to assess Osteodenx, but there are so many snake oils to assess. It will not happen quickly and big bucks will be spent. Buyers beware.
Alas I spend plenty on Vitamin D, Ezorb and Calcium Orotate. My Dexa has stayed the same, at this point that is good. No fractures since I was diagnosed 16 years ago and did my bloody physical activities with no common sense. For me intense physical activity is key.

Char,
There have been published studies in reputable mags eg New England Journal, etc. that supports glucosomine/chondroitan at a certain level of pain provides some marked positive results.
http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/short/354/8/795

I like quackwatch, but I think one must be careful about who is giving you the information. Dr. Barrett is a retired psychiatrist who is challenged by alternative therapy advocates because they believe he looks for the negative. His credentials look pretty good to me. I would only use quackwatch as one source.

I feel better when I take gluco/chondr and notice a difference over time when I don't. Whether it is actually doing anything, I don't care. I just care how I feel.

The man who developed OsteoDenx has impressive credentials also. I just wonder why there are no papers submitted to New England Journal of Medicine or Journal of American Medical Association if this is so groundbreaking and revolutionary.

Suey,
Forteo isn't a supplement. It's a very well researched drug. It's the only drug available that builds bone. You start to make osteoblasts again, like a 17 year old when it works. I've been taking it for almost 19 months and my bone density has improved. I'll find out if there is continued improvement when I have my next Bone Density test. That's the only way you can know for sure. Good luck to you.

Sylvia,
I agree with you. I looked up the abstract you cited and only 38 women total were used. I'm not a researcher but that doesn't sound like enough of a sample. I'd like to believe in OsteoDenx but the hype is a bit suspicious. I don't put much stock in testimonials. How do we know they are legit. The developer is listed as a Nobel Prize nominee. I could be a Nobel Prize nominee if one reputable professor nominated me. There is no status to being a nominee. The developer is a researcher, not an MD. He sounds reputable but I'm not convinced. I was taking Fosomax and Boniva but stopped out of fear and joint aches. I feel better now. (reread this...how did I get so cynical!)
Regards

Thanks GlobalWellness for having your Dad explain how OsteoDenx works. I am going to consider that product.

I'm going to ask my Dr. about it. I take forteo and 2000IUs of vitamin D3. My Dr. is a researcher and well known in the field. How much does it cost?

Does anyone know where I can purchase osteodenx in the UK please.

Many thanks
