Nonunion fractures?

0 Recommendations

I've had a nonunion femur fracture for a year. I have rheumatoid arthritis and been on prednisone for many years. The osteoporosis is most likely from this. Have had a bone graft a month ago and an implanted bone stimulator. No news on healing but xrays on 6/18. Anyone else dealing with these issues? Kate

I hear you about the not walking. I'm also on Forteo which is to stimulate bone growth and just had a bone graft. I also used the Exogen stimulator but now with the surgery had an implantable stimulator. Have you had vitamin D level checked? Kate

I have had the same fracture for a year also. X-rays show that it's healing but slow...I use the Exogen Ultra Sound Bone Healing System daily. I am not on any meds other than calcium supplements and multi-vitamins.

I have an appointment with my GP this coming week for a referral to see a specialist to deal with my situation.

My ortho doc does not seem to be addressing the osteoporosis.

After a week of reading this site; I realize that I have a long road ahead of me.

I am frightened and depressed about the unknown. I am a 56 year old African American female with controlled Type 2 diabetes. Being unable to walk since my fall a year ago is driving me crazy!!!!!

Any advice?
