Neutralizing Lupron - was it the Zometa .... or exercise?

0 Recommendations

I just re-tested my bone density on the very same machine after 12 months on Lupron - hormone deprivation therapy (HDT) for treatment of locally advanced prostate cancer.
It showed a T-score improvement in my spine from -2.3 to -1.9 …. almost 20% when it could have gone 10% the other way from the bone thinning effect of the Lupron/ HDT! The Z-score dropped from -1.9 to -1.3. My hip measurement was unchanged at -0.9 and -0.5 respectively.
Evidently my daily sculling (rowing) regime -replaced with a walk when I feel crummy- combined with an annual Zometa infusion is effective; I tried to get Kaiser to give me two infusions p.a. per the BrCa research but they said it was not yet shown to be effective for PrCa – but given the results, I’m not complaining about one infusion per year. I got my Zometa re-charge last week, and still have another 15 months of Lupron.

I'd be interested to learn how other men and women on HDT for PrCa and BrCa have fared after a year on Lupron ,Tamoxifen or similar.
