I was diagnosed with osteopororis when i was 40 but the doctors told me i had probably got it in my early 30's. I had back surge to repl a degenrated disc. The upsetting part was the surgery went well but they hardly had to drill..the screws just slid in . Hearing that just made me so sick and 8 weeks later they looked at the xrays and told me my spine was so bad with osteoporosis. I was told i had like 80 year old bones. I already have had 3 fractures..don't know how i got them. I live on long island and have a dr in manhatten..i have been on actonel and fosamax and my bones are still getting worse and i am not even in meopause yet which really scares me. I will have no bone left. I have to see my dr in march for my next bone density and we will talk about the forteo. In the meantime i am checking out other hospitals around the country. I do have a question..I always hear about woman going on forteo and reclast when they are postmenopausal. Does anyone know if you can use these drugs when you are perimenopausal? I have done alot of reading on the once a year reclast but it seems that woman over 60 have been using it. Thankyou for listening.
