My Vitamin D Results

0 Recommendations

Can someone please help me? My blood test on my Vitamin D shows this.....from my doctor when I called my nurse........
One test shows 36.8
another one shows 91.9 with a range of 82-217........

this is very very low and I asked should I increase my D3 and she said no I was fine but I am not enough by the way these numbers look.

My test in 2006 shows---
vitamin d 25-oh, total as 46
Vitamin D 25-oh d3 as 42
my vitamin d 25-oh d2 as 4

It dos not look like I have more vitamin D???? I don't want to have to go to my doctor to understand these he will charge me.

I think you are OK.

I checked my test results and a range of 32-100 is normal. You do seem to be declining so maybe increase Vitamin D by eating more foods containing it (do a google to find these - salmon comes to mind) and getting more sun when the weather permits. It's always better to try to increase something naturally first before going on more supplements. Put some additional measures in now and then you can follow up with your doctor when you are scheduled to see him next.

By way of comparison, my test result in April was 29.9. The doctor increased me to 1200 Vit D (400 multivitamin, 400 Ca + D, and 400 D3 - the D3 variety my addition as she didn't think it mattered whether I took D3 or regular). However, when my calcium in my urine was too high, we had to cut everthing back, so now I am on 800 Vit D (multi & D3).

One year ago right after I found out I have Osteoporosis my doc checked my Vit D level. It was 11, severely low. She put me on 50,000 units a week and after 8 weeks the level was 26 and 8 more weeks it was 72 and I thought I was going to die! The heartburn was awful. I went off of that much and now take 1000 a day of D3 by Jarrow, My level is 68 and no heartburn.I do take a Prilosec OTC every morning. I tried other brands and they gave me heartburn. I think your level should be no less than 50.Some docs say 30. I also take Bone Up by Jarrow as well to get Vit K. I'm not on any drugs and haven't had my period for almost 3 months. Maybe I will be done with that. I'm 54! I have my next bone test next week so I will see how I have done in the yr and go from there. I don't want to take any of these drugs.

Dr. Christiane Northrup knows her stuff, maybe read up on it from her books, website. Dr. Oz is great to read up on as well.

Take care,
Robyn

Thank you for your posts.......I take now 1200mg of D3 each day..........I guess I will go up to 1600mg of D3.....the nurse said no to any more D3....but she gets a lot of things wrong.........she said too much D3 can cause bad things to happen. But I also have a friend of 100,000 of D3 each week and it was for awhile.....so I am upping mine to 1600........but I won't be able to have my blood test done for another 2 years since I am on medicare.......or maybe I could but my internal medicine doctor is not really serious about Osteo........He wants me to do yoga and I don't believe in it.....sorry to who I just offended.......I am not doing that........but we are adults and should be able to express what we do and are comfortable with on this board. Again, thank you for responding and I believed before I wrote this topic that my D had decreased.........I wonder why...... in 2006 when I was 46 I never took D or D3........and I have been on D3 for two years and its lower.......something is very wrong here???
