Hi! I just joined this group and I am hoping you all can help me. Based on a DEXA scan a year ago, I have mild osteoporosis in my hips and moderate osteopenia in my lower back. I am 29 weeks pregnant and need to make some educated decisions on how to deliver my little boy.
Should I have a vaginal delivery or opt for a C section? What are the chances of a fracture? Should I be checked again now to see if my osteoporosis has gotten worse during pregnancy?
My husband and I are thinking breastfeeding is not our best option due to the osteoporosis.
We have a 4 1/2 year old and I had severe pain for months after the birth. I still don't know if I had a fracture or not- I was just diagnosed due to a stress fracture in my wrist a year ago. My history is anorexia in high school, small frame, not enough dairy, etc. No major diseases causing the osteoporosis-- just a lot of factors contributing to it. Please give me some advice! Thanks,
Lucie
