increasing Vitamin D

How long does it take for Vitamin D levels to rise? I am taking supplements.

If the supplement is large enough, maybe 2 or 3 months. What is the size of your supplement? Have you had your blood tested for D levels?

After a blood test found my Vitamin D to be quite a bit lower than the bottom of the normal range, It took me about 2 months of D3 at around 8000 IU a day of Vitamin D3. Then a blood test showed I should reduce my dose and I went on an average of 5000 IU a day which has kept my Vitamin D level at a normal range from then on. You need to discover what is the best dose fro you. But make sure you are taking the Vitamin D3 pill at a dose which is tailored to you. The recommended 400 IU or even 1000 IU a day may or may not be enough for your body.

I took about 3,500 Units daily for about 6 months..my Vit D tested at 41 at the end of 6 months. Then I took 600 for the next 6 months and it went up to 46. now i am on 7,000 units daily and hope when it is tested to be closer to 55, if not, I will increase to 8,000 daily.

My Dr will not write prescriptions for 50.000 Unit weekly dose so I will just take it by taking 7,000 daily. If that doesn't work. All of my other tests seem to be fine, however, I am older than most of you and that could be the reason my D level is taking so long to get up. We have had very little sun this year ..I tried to get some sun through natural means but don't think I got enough to help much.
