Hug A Cat?

Women's World, July 28th, page 3 article about vibrations from a cat's purr improve bone density and healing. Since I'm a dog person and not a cat person, I didn't want to be left out (smile). Apparently, a domestic cat usually purrs at a frequency of 25 and 50 Hz. Research (not specified) demonstates that exposure to a frequency of 25 Hz increases bone density by at least 20%. I do believe that pets can reduce stress, but improving bone density?

I wish! I have two, and whereas they definately contribute to my well being, haven't done anything for my bone density. ,.. and they sleep on top of me! Very nice thought though.

Hi Sandy and HSB: We have 2 as well that sleep on the bed and usually on top of us. Maybe it was our cats that helped and not the meds :0) Thanks for posting this!!!

While I am meditating, one will curl into my lap and the other at my knees, both purring loudly, but to get them to purr like that at other times requires a large amount of cat-nip.

That research was initiated by Fauna Communications Research Institute. This is an article about the topic http://paulapeterson.com/CatsPurr.html and this is Fauna’s site http://animalvoice.com/catpurr.htm . Any one with a “Dr. Doolittle” personality with probably like it. That area of research, Bioacoustics and Neuroacoustics, has already resulted in some health care applications. I suspect many people already have a sense of what this involves, but may not know the details. I will be posting some additional information in my journal soon.

YOU know about the cats - it may not be proven by scientific method,

But we are emotions and physical

Anything like cats that makes us feel supported who can say that doesn't help?

In Dr Christine Northup's book, she wrote something
about bone health and feeling supported.

Joan, without a doubt, my dogs reduce my stress and bring a smile to my face every day. I receive Dr. Northrups newsletter as a paid subscriber. Dr. Northrup and Louise Hay's both share the same opinion. Louise Hays on breaks/fracture: rebelling against authority. Osteoporosis: feeling there is no support left in life. I don't accept these opinions. Do you? Thanks. Sandi
