hip resurfacing

I have been considering hip "resurfacing" instead of hip replacement to end the pain. Even though I am uncertain about the safety of metal leaching, I'd rather do this than a total hip replacement if I can get away with it.

Does anyone know a woman who's had hip resurfacing? What do they say? I know a few men who've had great success but they have stronger femurs. And reports are out implying women risk bone fractures afterward.

I hold on to the hope of jumping rope again! Thanks for passing this request around.
