Gap of one week in a forteo injection course

0 Recommendations

I have been taking forteo injection for 10 months without any break. There are ensuing conditions in which I may not be able to maintain the cold chain; therefore, I may miss my daily doses for atleast 7-10 days. Can any one tell me the implications of this gap of 7-10 days, on the overall efficacy of the complete treatment cycle of 18 months.
Thanks

Pain Forteo Osteoporosis

I had to stop this summer for 5 days, and although I am not sure what caused it.. whether it was the five days or not.. but when I started back up, I had so many issues, rapid heart rate, joints killing me, couldn't use my left hand at all, had to wear a brace and I was so tired I couldn't get out of bed barely. Went off by the suggestion of my md, and stayed off for 6 weeks, started by up again, and hopefully continues fine. I have to possibly go off again in Nov. and I am really nervous.

Thanks for sharing. I was expecting it.

We would love to get similar responses from others, who had to stop taking daily Forteo injections and then restarted at varying intervals.

It is unfortunate that Forteo [elilly] never responds to such queries. They provide opportunity to US customers to login their site and respond but not in India.

Hi pawan: I stopped Forteo for a little over a month and it had no affect on my treatment or scores, as far as I know. My scores got much better even though I stopped it for that time for calcium problems. The very next dxa after stopping it was a year later with great improvement and I didn't have a dxa around the time I stopped, so I don't know if anything happened but since I improved so much it seems doubtful.

I had to stop my Forteo injections for apprx 1.25 months, after 9 months of feeling so much better. Imediately I felt the progress I had already made started to slip away, my body went back to the pain in all the old places. I 've been back now for 2.5 months feeling better again, but afraid, because I know I need to get off after 2 years. I canot take biophosphates, acc to my Doc, what am I to do??? Help!

I started Forteo in March and felt horrible - sharp pains in my legs, chest, head. Generally feeling bad.

I couldn't get a dr. to talk to me - I fired my primary care dr. and another supposed "expert" on osteoporosis. It took 12 weeks for me to get in to see an endo who specializes in osteo. We discussed my issues and she told me to go off it for a week. I felt better within 24 hours. I was worried these symptoms might cause long term problems. She told me they would not (now, we don't REALLY know that, do we). And that if I could stand the discomfort, I should continue with the drug. When I went back on, I did not have the same pains I initially experienced. I occasionally have some little twinges but not to the extent as they were at first. I still worry about the long term effects of this drug, but like everyone else here, we don't have too many options.
