Foot pain?

0 Recommendations

I am 42 and diagnosed with osteoporosis after I fractured two vertebrae after having a baby at 41. I am hoping it is pregancy-related osteoporosis and actually my bone density is improving after stopping breastfeeding. My question is that just recently (so 6 months after I was diagnosed with osteoporosis) I have started to develop foot pain. First in my left foot, now in my right foot. It hurts on the heel of the foot and towards the arch of the foot and sometimes on the top of the foot. I read on the internet that foot pain can be caused by osteoporosis because so much stress is on the foot. I am not taking any medications other than hydrochlorothiazide to try to reduce calcium in my urine. Does anyone else have foot pain that they think is related to osteoporosis? Thanks, julie

Hello:

Your foot pain could be due to any number of things. Are you physically-active now? Walking? Running?
It's possible you could have a stress fracture and you should probably see a physical therapist or physician to evaluate your foot pain.

Hope this is helpful.

It could be a condition called plantar fasciitis. It causes heel pain, especially when getting out of bed in the morning.

My feet hurt for the longest time so I finally went to a foot Dr. He did x-rays and I had 2 fractures in 1 foot and one in another. I also was having heel pain and he said I have no fat pad on my heel so it was like walking on bones to rocks. See a Dr. (podiatrist)

Hi, Thank you for responding. I walk and try to walk about 30 minutes 3-4 times a week. I hadn't really done anything different when the pain started. I walked on a treadmill recently and had only walked on one a few times before (with no problem). I walked a little longer than normal and with different shoes but it just seems weird that I got this problem all of a sudden with no obvious connection to something I was doing differently. I was given the name of an excellent orthopedic doctor who specializes in feet so I'll go there. Thanks again, Julie

I would be concerned about from where the calcium in your urine is coming -- maybe from your bones? Has your MD considered hyperparathyroidism?
