Evista — is it safe?

Boniva was too hard on my digestive system. Now I am trying Evista. A week into treatment.

Concerned about side effects and dangers

I understand your concern. I just started taking Actonel and I don't like how I feel.

Hi,
I know how you feel. My doctor suggested that I take Evista in June. I spent the summer researching different medications etc., and finally decided to start taking the Evista last night. Let's stay in touch and compare notes!

I have been on Evista since December 20th or so 2006....I have taken only Evista plus my calcium etc, due to the onj of the other meds....I had a bit of hot feelings for about 6 months but nothing I could not handle. No other side effects.......except my uterus lining did grow from 8mm to 1mm in 17 months.....I had a D&C.......and the doctor put me right back on Evista...I think we should have stayed off one year.......and seen how my lining looked then........I am taking and in May of 2009 I will see my gyno and he will do another ultrasound and see if the lining has grown. I do take an aspirin a day of 81mg....I have just read that even aspirin needs to be weened off...not to stop fast. I like Evista.......I am disabled so I don't walk around too much.....due to fatigue.....but I try and do something. My BMD test is going to be in November this year.......probably the last day or December 1.......to see about where I stand with Osteo.......I am believing for healing...and I am takin my meds.......So I will let you know my results.

What about the potential side effects of Evista??
I.e. blood clots? I was told you can not take Evista if you are planning on any traveling because of the risk of DVT. Any comments, anyone?

When I travel.....in a car and I am only staying one night.........I do not take the Evista those two days.....if I were to stay a week I would not take on the day of travel and I would take the days of my visit and the day I was driving back or flying back I would not take the Evista that day. After I am home the next day I start back on my Evista. So I am trying to say that I only stop taking the day of travel or if I am having a day surgery........I stop taking the week before and then start back when I am up on my feet.

Double check me but Evista does not stay in your system...that is why we take it daily. I don't want something staying in my system very long.
