Evista and Uterus Lining

0 Recommendations

I had an vaginal ultrasound Tuesday........in 2006 my uterus lining was 8mm which was thicker than normal........I had two tests in 2006 to check on my lining........last one was in December 2006.......the end of December 2006, I started on Evista..........this past Tuesday, May 6.....my uterus lining is 15mm.......this is abnormal......so I will be having a D&C in June to make sure I have NO cancer...and I won't in JESUS name......so please all on Evista......make sure your doctor gives you vaginal ultrasounds each year if you are postmenopausal and on Evista.........I did contact Eli Lilly.........this had to be what caused my lining to increase that dramatic.....today I did not take one and I don't know if I am going to take Evista anymore. My doctor said Evista is great for preventing a certain kind of breast cancer and my great aunt who had breast cancer due to HRT.......is now on Evista so her cancer won't return. There are good things about this drug but as far as I am concerned.......my linning became thicker due to Evista. Southernlady

Hi Southernlady: Thanks for the info. I plan on starting Evista at the end of June. I'll have finished Forteo by then, and can't take the bisphos's.

Is there any possibility that the increase in lining could have happened anyway? I will talk to my dr about this and see what she say's. I already have fibrocytic breasts and 1 ovarian cyst all of which are non cancerous.

What was the reason they checked on this in the first place? Were you just having a regular US for a gynecological exam? I have US's of the uterus, once a year, but that's to check on the ovarian cyst I have.

I read the literature on Evista and it doesn't mention uterine wall problems.

Good luck, I hope it turns out okay.

Windblown,
Thank you for responding. They were checking for a cyst....and he noticed the lining being 15mm thick.......I called Evista and it does increase the thickness of the uterus lining in their studies...but they show only .6% which is less than 1mm.........but they took down my information and doctors name and number and they will be checking with me. I don't believe anything caused this but the Evista..........no change except the Evista...........and then in 17 months the test show 15mm......that is abnormal. But again, I know JESUS will heal me. I know I will be fine. I will let you all know after my surgery June 2......

Thank you for the info. My doctors want to start me on Evista because of osteoporosis in my hips and high risk of breast cancer. I was not told about this side effect. I hope that you get good results. I will check it out with my doctors before going on it.

I am also starting Evista in July or sooner because of Osteoporosis in the hips and a high rate of breast cancer and 3 benign biopsies. Good luck to you!

Eli Lilly showed in a test that the lining did increase but only by .6%...........I am sure you ladies will be fine. I pray over my medicine for no side effects or damage. My great aunt is on Evista to prevent her breast cancer from returning. She has no side effects or weight gain. I am praying for each of you ladies......in Jesus name. Southernlady

Hi Southerlady: Thank you so much for your kind words for those of us who will start or have started Evista.

Do you know what the retail price is on this med? I have Medicare and am in the Coverage Gap, so I'll have to pay full price for it, and I haven't called any pharmacies yet to see what the figure is.

I'm also going to be looking into Medico, and wondered if any of you are familiar with that rx distributor? I will also check with Eli Lily to see if I can qualify for the Lily Cares program, where if you are excepted, they charge 25.00 a month per rx. I'm not sure I can qualify for that so I have to look into all possibilities.

Thanks again for your kind and compassionate concern...

Yes, I use Medco and am saving lots of money with my 90 days prescs by mail. They can compare prices with you and are very helpful. No shipping costs.

When I called Eli Lilly for free meds they said if I have Medicare Part D I do not qualify.......I go to a family pharmacy and they charge around $110......be sure and check with your doctors.......they may have samples of Evista and unlike my doctors office they will not call for me free samples. With Humana regular Part D I pay now $25 a bottle. That is a great price. I have been off Evista since last Wednesday and decided today to get back on it....but before my surgery June 2...I will be off a week before. I will also see if my doctor still wants me on Evista. He is on vacation this week. Ladies, you are great to talk to your doctors and you can sure tell them about me. I am post menopausal........my last BILL as you know what I mean was January 2006....no blood since then.

Hi Ladies thanks for the info. I'll be contacting Medco to see what they say.

Southernlady good luck with your surgery. I have Humana Part D as well and would be charge 25.00 for Evista *if* I wasn't already at the Coverage Gap/Donut Hole. Someone told me that you could get help from Eli Lily if you were in the Donut Hole, but I won't know for sure until I call myself. I also take another Eli Lily med besides Forteo, so I want to hear what they say directly.

Have a nice day.

They may help you in the donut hole........I pray they do. Blessings to you my friend. Southernlady

Windblown,
Check with canadapharmacy.com on their prices after you get an idea of the price on Evista. I am too young (?) for Medicare and haven't been able to obtain any type of insurance for 25 years. Overall on my meds (11) canada pharmacy saves me at least 60%; but that makes it worth the hassle.

I took Evista for several years but had to quit when cystic lumps in the breast became tender. I was also diagnosed with non-cancerous ovarian cyst at the time but do not know if it was caused by the Evista.

Hello,
I'm just wondering if your Canadapharm meds are from places like India, Sweden and Italy as mine were when I ordered Evista(Ralista) from India, Lipitor (Norway) and Prevacid(Lansox-Italy). i was really scared to take these, I thought i would get pills made in Canada. The only way to get cheaper prices are the generics, except the Lipitor looked just like the US pill, only in Scandinavian. I'm really puzzled and worried about the quality. Thank you for any feedback.

I personally will not take a drug from another country unless I don't know I am..........I would rather pay the higher price.....its my life........I used to buy the best in clothing and still do sometimes and in makeup and shoes, food, I have a nice Corolla old it may be but its in excellent condition and I have my car serviced for everything......I am not going to cut back on medicine.......I would rather cut back on clothing and buy cheaper food than to try and get my meds at discount prices.......

I also wanted to add we have one body......that GOD made and I think its crazy to put cheap into our bodies..........we have to watch what the drug companies give us because they don't tell us everything which is why I won't try any new drug.......until the drug has proven itself.........I know you ladies will make good choices because you will have researched the meds before you take them.

I did, it's long. Where could it possibly have gone?

I posted a reply, it is gone, I know not where. I'll start over again.

I never did find my lost post, so here is my short answer. I share your concerns about meds manufactured overseas - or their components. The US and Canada use the same guidlines (FDA). You can and probably should ask that your canadian pharmacy flag your account to only ship and sell to you medications manufactured in the US or Canada.
Be careful out there, it is unstable out there.
