Hi Espolesbabe

I think you mean Celiac disease. Its an interesting article. Thanks.
nancy

Nancy, the correct scientific spelling - not Americanized - is COEliac as spelled in the article

Thank you for posting the link to the article giving hope to other coeliac's like myself.

(ps. my fingers mis-behave on the keys too sometimes!)

I hope I haven't led anyone astray. I know nothing about this disease except that this article would be of interest to people on this site and do hope that it could be
enlightening. The spelling used is the English spelling which the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) have used and Celiac is the American speling - exactly the same disease but two different ways of writing it.

I have Celiac disease. its some Hope, but its all ways way down the road & we never hear of it again no matter how old we are. No mater how hard u try to mantain on a diet, every day U well eat some food with out knowing there flour in some form. its the cause of my sorry sick Bone ( : ] Have a nice Day

Dear Iola ~

I know how hard it is to avoid gluten and I sympathize with you. For a while there I thought I might be allergic to gluten and sure had a hard time finding food without it. "They" sneak it into all sorts of things where you'd never expect it. Like yogurt, for crying out loud-- as modified food starch. I thought surely I could eat Rice Krispies--but no--malt flavoring from barley. And so on, as you well know. I have a friend with celiac disease and she has violent reactions whenever she encounters gluten. She sticks to homemade food most of the time, using fresh ingredients whenever possible. I wonder if she's ever had her bones checked for OP?

Have you ever heard of Bette Hagman? She's written several books on gluten free cooking. Here's a link to Amazon where they have several of her and other's books listed. You can probably find some of them at your local library too. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_0_12?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field- keywords=bette+hagman+gluten-free+cookbooks&sprefix=bette+hagman

I think I'll go read more about this in the encyclopaedia and afterwards I'll go to the theatre. Maybe I'll have a coke, but sometimes I worry about drinking from aluminium cans due to the suspected link to Alzheimer's. . . OK, just having some fun with British English spellings. It has a certain elegance, don't you think?

Good luck. Susan

Hello SusanRay, Yes i know all about Betty Hagmem I use her flour mix to make recipe that or not gulton free some work some don't. I have the best Bread receipe call soft white bread i bake in large cup cake pan, frezz take one out when every. Carrot Cake no one can tell the different. It's a very interesting article. He seems to say that simply failing to absorb calcium and other nutrients due to celiac disease damage to the small intestine, may not be the true/only cause of our osteoporosis. If this newly discovered antibody that attacks the bone tissues can be tested for, like gluten antibodies, then I would sure love to be tested. I hope my rheumy learns about this so I can bug him next time I see him.

Tom
