Additional books recommended by Sara Meeks:
The Osteoporosis Solution - Carl Germano,
Better Bones Better Body - Susan Brown,
Food For Your Bones - Anne Marie Colbin (skip exercise advise)

Thank both of you very much for the book list.

I have osteopenia in the hip and osteoporosis in the neck and spine, plus widespread muscular pain. And I would like to get pregnant later this year.

Any recommendations on which book to start on first?

I would suggest that you request a referral from your doctor to work with a physical therapist that has the knowledge of bone loss and also the muscular pain. A book or video cannot replace a health professional working with you in person, but if that isn't possible, simple basic exercises and safe moves can be found in Wall Tall by Sara Meeks. I wouldn't recommend any exercise if you have pain without checking with your doctor. You may want to start a new discussion with the information in your post for replies from the health professionals on the community.

Dear SDivas,
Thank you so much for your input and fo ryour video and book list. This is very useful information for the public!
Sincerely,
Sherri Betz, PT

Sherri, thank you. I hope community members will check with their doctors before using any of the information in the books/videos. Also, bringing osteoporosis books to the attention of fitness instructors may hopefully ignite some interest in osteoporosis and exercise. Thanks for participating on the community. Sandi
