Hi. I am now on bioidentical hormone replacement with estrogen, progesterone and testosterone to treat both menopausal symptoms and osteopenia. I am 52. I have been on these for three months now, and am experiencing a lot of hair loss from my already thin hair. I am really seeing a lot of scalp on top, and it was not so bad three months ago. I was just wondering if there was anyone else on this forum who has gone this route and experienced a similar problem? And, are there any suggestions for reversing this? I will be seeing my doc again in two weeks. Thanks for any advice you can give.

I've had thinning hair for a long time and it is getting thinner but I am doing some bio-identical hormone replacement including 10 mg. of DHEA which I guess theoretically could convert to DHT the supposed culprit in hairloss. I have not done it because I take so many pills already but the recommendation is to take Saw Palmetto which is supposed to block the DHT (that comes from testosterone ) . Maybe you could also do this with some sort of topical that includes Saw Palmetto. I'm only using estrogen and progesterone creams. Are you sure you need testosterone? I think you need to block DHT.
