0 Recommendations

has anyone been on the Better Bones program designed by Dr. Susan Brown? and if so, have you seen some improvement? Am thinking about trying it and looking for some input.
Thanks!

It does look good and I considered it. However, the expense involved and the distance from your caretakers makes a difference. You should be able to handle your care on your own with help from your local doctors.

Oh, I agree. I just like the fact that all of the supplements I should need come all together. I get so confused with take this and take that, etc. etc. I would work with my dr. if I decided to go this route!
Thanks....

I have looked into it and because Im in the UK it would be difficult, also its very expensive.
It is confusing to take all the supplements and a bit hit and miss.

I'm on their mailing list and get their newsletters. I think they have a lot of good information on their website. However, I have not purchased any of their supplies because it just seems too expensive for me at this time.

I"m also on Vivian Goldschmidt's mailing list and considering unsubscribing because it seems like all of her emails and newsletters are just glorified sales pitches. At least the Women to Women (Susan Brown) website has actual, substantive information.

I live within 100 miles of Dr Brown and might consider an appointment with her in the future. I did have a phone consultation with her several months ago and felt it was very worthwhile. She sent a lot of material and I have been following many of her recommendations, have added boron, silica, [ from the herb, horsetail] and Vit K 2 , I had already increased my Vit D and have since increased it again. Whether I have had any bone improvement is not known at this time.

I do not really expect my DEXA [ to be done next August] to show a lot of improvement as far as bone density, I do hope that my bones are becoming stronger and less likely to fracture.

I am impressed with the amount of knowledge and research which Dr. Brown presents, I have her book and follow her site with interest, I have learned a lot from her although I am not following the alkaline diet to the extent she recommends.

Hope that adding prunes will help the diet part of my program which reminds me, I forgot them for 2 days in a row..well "tomorrow is another day" as my favorite heroine always said.

Hi SusanRae -
I have been on the BB plan since May, 09. The cost is a problem for me but it has been convenient to stay on. I trust Dr. S. Brown and her years of bone health research.

I have just joined Vivian Goldschmidt's mailing list and I have to agree, it's invasive, over-hyped marketing.

It's so difficult to know what the right approach is. You feel like you have to do SOMETHING... you're just not sure what that is!

Thank you.

I looked at the program, briefly but didn't see the list of the supplements she recommends. is it on the site or can someone list them? I'm already taking Biotin, and there is a ton of Vit K in Kale (I think it's kale...it is too late at night and my brain is fried.). Yes, prunes are supposed to be great for your bones, and bananas assist in the absorbtion of Calcium, so be sure to throw them in your Kale smoothies! <G> Raisins are alkalinizing too!

Hi bzcmom:
A well designed program is going to have an equal balance of lifestyle changes, not just supplements or dietary changes. Supplements and diet alone will not get the results you are looking for. I have previously posted 5 lifestyle factors that are ALL important for improving bone strength.
