actenol and stomach pain

0 Recommendations

After failing my Bone scan I was put on Vitamin D and Actenol. After my very first time taking Actenol I started having severe abdominal pain And severe Diarrhea like water. It has been 3 days and still is like this. I am not able to leave the house or go to work. I have to stay near a bathroom.
I have a RX for a bowel binding medicine but it has not helped at all. Has anyone else suffered like this after a dose of Actenol? My script calls for 150mg once a month. My Vitamin D is once weekly.

Mistig; I suggest you call your doctor. I am certainly not qualified to be giving medical advice but I think three days is too long to have this condition. Perhaps your doctor will give you a lower dose to allow your system to adjust to the new meds. Unfortunately, I cannot take any of the bisphosphonates and have had severe reactions to Actenol and Fosamax. I think we really have to be responsible and do research before taking any drugs which are know to have severe side effects. Hope you are feeling better soon.

How are you today? Hope you're feeling better.

Hi Mistig,

Hope you are doing better today and have called your doctor. I take actonel once per week and have side effects though not as severe as yours.

Pouchie

mistig, I hope by now you have contacted your doctor. I've been on Actonel since 8/01, starting with daily .05 and changing to weekly .35 without any side effects. I'm not sure my system could have taken a higher dosage at the start. I'm not sure why doctors don't start with a lower dosage; other than thinking it is more convenient for patients. Please let us know how you are.

Today I was pain free in my stomach but I can barely move from the pain in my ribs and breastbone (center)
It feels like I have had a hard impact to my center chest. I dont know if it is part of an effect since the meds say some reactions happen later not right away. I can hardly take a breath cause the pressure on the breastbone. If not better in the morning I am going to the statcare for xrays.
Since I have digestive problems does anyone know anything about the Reclast ( IV )?

Man, I'm sorry you're in so much pain. If you type "Reclast" into the Search engine, you'll be able to read reports from other people. I also have digestive problems, and though my doctors assured me Reclast and Boniva IVs would bypass the digestive system and not cause that problem. I still refused to take it. Some folks have had very different reactions, so do your reading before you take it. And remember that Reclast will stick around for a year and there is nothing they can do to flush it out of your system once it's there. Read, please.

Mistig I had stomach pain and diarrhea when I started on 50,000 units of vitamin D, and I couldn't leave the house. Dr. told me it was not a side effect, but it defintely was. Also, after taking Fosomax for a year I developed an inflamed esophagus. Your breast bone pressure could be a hiatal hernia - that's what mine was. Maybe it's time to see the Dr. Good luck!

wasnun: Have you tried lower daily doses of D?
