2 days ago had the bone scan

0 Recommendations

Just two days ago at my yearly checkup, they had me do a bone scan. And, they showed me, my hips have lowered. In ways it didn't surprise me, but in others it did.

I would like to know if there is a list of the foods that are going to be helpful with Osteopenia. I am only 53, and want to delay anymore bone lost.

Thank you for any info.

Three things: Walking is the best medicine for hips. I actually raised my score in hips and the first thing the doc said "you've been walking I see." Bone growth is stimulated by blood flow. Comes from movement. Second, read "The Wisdom of Menopause" by Christiane Northrup, MD., the chapter bone density issues. She talks about all the foods. Third, once you change your life, get a Ntx blood/urine test inbetween Dex scans to see if your new lifestyle is working.

I am sorry this has not been answered.............I have seen on these boards to eat more alkaline foods and not as many acid foods....that is hard to do but please google alkaline vs acid foods and you will see a long list. You will notice that acid foods are the ones we love the most usually........but that alkaline is much better for us. I hope this helps you. Southernlady
