Uterine/Cervical Adenocarcinoma

0 Recommendations

Newly diagnosed with uterine adenocarcinoma with mets to cervix. 2 years ago I had a normal pap and informed that I would not need another pap for 3 years. I am scheduled for radiation 5 days a week for 5-6 weeks with chemotherapy every week for 5-6 weeks, then possibly surgery. I have been a nurse for almost 20 years and never suspected I would be on this side. I had had a uterine ablation 5 years ago due to heavy painful periods and just thought I was getting ready to experience menstruation all over again but found out it was much worse. I can't express to women enough to listen to their bodies and take care of themselves for a change.

Hi,thank you for sharing. You are so right that it is important for women to take care of themselves. I was just diagnosed with cervical adenocarcinoma in situ (I'm 49 and never had an abnormal pap), and was lucky it was found early, and am having hysterectomy next week. My gyn onc said they don't like that insurance companies and some doctors say do paps every 3 years if you have a history of normal ones. It is a opportunity to remind women to get annual checks. I wish you the very best in your journey. This site is a great place to share and learn. It has helped me.

I am sorry to hear about your cancer. I know what you mean - I never expected to have CC & uterine cancer but mine was 2 different cancers. I was told that I had nothing to worry about & I always had my annual PAP exam! I really feel let down by the medical team who was supposed to be taking care of me.
But I do want to let you know I am a 20 month survivor & it has been 15 months since the end of my treatment. I still have some lingering effects but am doing pretty well.
You will be in my thoughts & prayers. Please let us know your progress.
