Symptoms after colposcopy

Hi all,

I had a pap smear in April that came out positive for high-risk HPV. I then had a colposcopy last week and the doctor found some areas that were suspicious, so she took a sample and I will be getting the results back this coming week and from there may need to get LEEP done.

Since the colposcopy, I made the mistake of taking a bath (I forgot about the rule of avoiding infection by not taking a bath) and now, about a week later, I have a lot of itchiness down there, and I´m not sure if I should get a yeast infection medication (because it feels like a yeast infection) or what. What do you think? I should probably contact my doctor.

Hi Katie,

In my opinion, it would be good to contact your doctor and see what he/she thinks, is it too hard to talk to him? An infection can be caused by bacteria too and in this case an over the counter medication wouldn't help. Are you going in to get your results this week?

Hi,

Thanks so much for your response. I will get the results back this week. I`m actually overseas traveling for work this week, so I can probably still contact her and see what she says. Hopefully she can make an international phone call!

Anyone else have this experience with itchiness?
