have you told your doc? i know that my docs always ask me if i have swelling in my legs. i'm not sure why...

stomach bloating...does gas x help?

I think that the reason your doctor is asking you about swelling, is to see if you have lymphedema. Did you have a lymph node dissection? If so you may be at risk for it.

I was diagnosed last year with it. It started in my pelvic area and when I was measured they said that I have it in my legs as well. I didn't even notice beause it is so mild. It can also effect your abdominal area depending on where the lymph nodes were taken from.

My advice is that if you notice swelling to let your doctor know, so that you can pursue any treatment.

Sounds like lymphedema to me. I have it mostly in my abdomen. I am going to a lymphedema specialist twice a week. And I just ordered a compression undergarment. Contact me directly for me information. If you have lymphedema (it can also be caused by radiation to the pelvis), You need to find a lymphedema specialist (Physical Therapist) who has had experience in abdominal lymphedema. It is harder to treat than leg and arm.

good luck

thanks for all your advice. My doctor told me i have edema and to walk in the pool is one good treatment for this and it works for me .

I learned alot about lymphedema from the National Lymphedema Network website. I wear specially measured and ordered compression stockings for travel, exercising and working at a desk all day. They really help. I have had manual lymphatic drainage massage as well which helped. I was treated for stage 2b and had radiation to the pelvis so my lymph nodes may have been affected. Hope this helps

I have lymphdema in just my left leg and have had it for about 2 years. My doctors told me nothing could be done for it. I wouldn't accept that so began researching treatment options. I recently found a physical therapist who specializes in lymphdema. She told me there's plenty to be done! She's confident that within 2 months my leg will be back to it's (almost) regular size. Good luck!

i have my hysterectomy last year of july 1b1 adenocarcinoma . 48 lymph nodes was remove due to abnormal size but fortunately all was negative for cancer so i dont have the chemo and radiation.
Due to swelling my doctor advice me to wear compression stocking and undergarment aside from walking in the pool for 30 minutes a day which really helps a lot.

Unfortunately there is not much out there or many doctors who are aware of lymphedema i have found a sight about it and i will begin to write letters to the state and such from it because lymphedema needs to ge more recognized as many people who have had cancer now have lymphedema and are a frustrated as i and you are! here is the sight:

i am just becoming active about my disability now.
