So Irritated With Wisconsin!

I can not believe I ended up with this darn HPV stuff! It's stressing me out BIG TIME! The thing that gets me the most is that I ended up wth moderate dysplasia -so far went through the LEEP procedure and have to go back in six months [does this sound like the right amountof time?]- and it all could have been taken care of a lot sooner and not gotten as bad as it is if it wasn'tfor the state of Wisconsin. You need to be 21 before they will do colposcopy. If you have hpv (I had high risk when I was 20) they won't do anythin about it! I now have a friend (who we know has the same strain as me because she slept with the same guy I got it from and another our friends got it from him to) who is only 19 and has to wait until she is 21 before they will do anything to help her. It's just going to get worse by them not takin care of it...and then the state will be paying more money in healthcare for the more expensive treatment. Now what if a fourteen or fifteen year old girl gets it, then what? They make hr wait until she is 21...what if it turs into cancer by then? The reason the state won't allow doctors to do colposcopy on girls under 21 is because they were performing too many procedures and girls didn't need them...Or so we were told by the doctors. The state really needs to change their little "law" because it's creating more problems!

So the state healthcare will do a pap smear, but not a colposcopy if you are under 21? Do they pay for hpv tests? Hopefully they pay for Gardasil also? The cervical cancer risk is very very low in adults under 25 because hpv is most often transient in the 20 something group so I'm sure that's their rationale. I'm not saying that is right though. When I was in my 20s, hpv was not transient for me. I'm in my 30's and it's still there. I sure hope the Wisconsin education system is educating young women and men about the dangers of hpv and not brushing off the risks because the budget is tight.

i dont know where u live but im only 18 n live in wisconsin and had a colp. done in the begining of this year...idk y u cant. my insurance convered it all too so idk y ur saying 21?

I live in northern wi... like i said it's not just me eitor, a friend is very angry that they won't do a colposcopy, im going to have to look into it more, maybe our doctors are not telling us the whole story; i can't see them feeding us a line of bs but thats really messed up! And my insurance covers it also...thanks for the info amy_11

yes i would look into it because the sooner u know and catch it the better chance of getting rid of it completley. i had colp. done 6 months ago and found i had pre cancer so they did laser vaporization and because it was caught in time my dr. sed i had 97 percent chance it all could get cleared and so far so good at me last check. i live in wisconsin dells. if i were u id call or check and see what other dr/nurses opinions are cause u dont wanna wait for it to turn bad.

or as i read for ur friends its important for them
