scan results

Ok..so I had my scans in march following an abnormal pap. I repeated my pap and it came back normal. I haven't heard AT ALL from my onc staff regarding the results of my scans!!! ( I was to scared to call for them as well) I have my 3 month checkup coming up on the the 6th and am scared. Would they have called me if there was neg results or if cancer seemed prominant in my scans, or would they wait to talk with me in person? tThis is my first series of scans since my initial post ttreamant CT scan.

Hi Beege,

From personal experience I would think if you had your scans way back in March and the results showed cancer or some other major problem your Docs would have called you way back then. Again, from my experience, if it's cancer they call and say they need to see you in the office. I personally can't believe they would wait till July to tell you this. The quicker treatment is started the better the outcome.

Usually when you hear nothing it's good news....but I have found that once in a great while those office girls neglect to do their job properly and make the calls they are supposed to make. I know it's scary, but you NEED to call and ask for test results if you are not personally notified.

Shoot, even though you are having a check up on the 6th, if I were you, I would call TODAY and find out the results of those scans. I bet you are laying awake in bed at night worrying about it..? I know I would be. Call and ease your mind...seriously do it. I know fear of the worst has kept you from doing it, but look at it this way....if their is something of concern in those scans, wouldn't you want to know about it now than later? I mean, when issues are caught in early stages the easier they are to treat. I have an enlarged lymph node the docs are watching. Whenever I get a scan I'm petrified, but I know the earlier we catch something the better my chances at a full recovery. Don't let fear control you anymore...you control it!

I'm not saying don't be scared, being scared is only natural. I'm getting ready for my 3 month pap and scans and am feeling the anxiety. What I am saying is don't let fear prevent you from getting the best treatment you can :)

By the way, the next time you have tests, scans, etc...ask your doc, nurse or whoever to please give you a call when your results are in...even if it's good news:) And if they don't, give a call and remind them of what you've asked and GET THOSE RESULTS.

My bet is that those scans looked good, but you need to bring peace to your body and mind. Pick up the phone right now and give your docs a call.

Be blessed,

Tavy

I think same thing as Tavy, if something was wrong I think you would've heard from them by now. Ask them when you go in if that is normal procedure, so you don't get yourself so upset. Also, the scans are yours if you like. You can pick them up at the hospital or have your oncon. make copies for you. I would be a basket case if I had to wait 3 months for results.
Again, I think everything must've been fine on your last scan and that is why you didn't hear from them.
My oncon. sends a card out in the mail saying if your pap is normal. I just hope it keeps sending them for many, many years.

Thanks for replying to my post. I am soooooooooo worried. I have to have to in reality attribute my anxiety to pre check up jitters. I will be sooooooooo happy when I finally hit my 5 year mark!!!

My onc is VERY thorough so I have to believe that he or someone from his clinic would have called.....they called the VERY NEXT DAY when my pap came back "abnormal"....I would like to think that they would call ASAP if my cancer had reccurred. God I HATE cancer! Not only the treat of it but the emotional trauma it entails on one's life..........
