One week until my scheduled cold knife cone

0 Recommendations

Scheduled for next Friday......still up in the air on this whole thing and a psychological mess.

My hubby really wants me to get this done, so does my mother in law, but I just don't know if I can mentally handle it.

I guess I'm just venting......my job is a lot of time on my feet and some carrying and lifting up to 50 pounds, so I'm not sure what to do there, couldn't get any info from the doctor on whether or not to ask for lighter job?? Any suggestions? I've only scheduled the day of the surgery and the day after off.

I have been so uptight over this that I've lost 5 pounds this week, and my stomach is just always nauseated from the stress.

Yes, I'm whining....thanks for listening :)

Hoping that if I do this, they give me something more than Motrin....Motrin makes me sick to my stomach which I can't imaging would be fun after this.....

well I'll tell you about my Cold Knife Cone, mine wasn't just a Cold Knife Cone my Dr. also did a laproscopy to check for endometriosis, so my recovery I had to deal with that as well. I am a HUGE fitness enthusiast and my Dr. told me I could go back to my normal workouts a day or two after the surgery... not the case and again I think it was form the laproscopy. After the surgery I was in bed for 4 days. I mostly had pain in my upper body form the gas they use for the laproscopy. for the cone part I had bleeding, light at first, then on day 6 I went to work out again and had HEAVY bleeding, slight cramping, it wasn't that bad. A week after the surgery a huge piece of something came out of me, I freaked out but my Dr. told me that was normal. I never had a bad smell like everyone talks about form leep, just bleeding for a few weeks and I think that is because I went to workout to soon. So I'm sure you'll get through the cone no problem, just take it easy after the surgery and don't push yourself. My follow up pap 3 months after showed HSIL and I just went to a Gyn/onco for my coloposcopy follow up, I meet with him at the end of this month I'm probaly going to have to have another cone, which I'm not that worried about since this time we won't do a laprascopy! Good Luck! you'll be fine!

I had both the Leep and the Cone Leep, and I understand your job problems. I had a difficult time recovering from both procedures since I'm on my feet constantly with my job. I bled more than normal, and worried that it was going to affect my job performance. ( It's so sad that in this economy we put our job over our health, but I was scared to death of losing my job since here they are so hard to come by.)

But, due to the fact that you lift heavy weights, you may be able to get a doctor's note to get out of the heavy lifting. Try to get it! I progressed to needing a hysterectomy, and I was told at work that --by law--they CANNOT fire you for medical reasons. My place of employment has been only kind and understanding about my surgery and doctor's appointments.

Good luck with everything, and be kind to your body as it heals! M
